Today we remember the life of Julius F. Wall (1934-2018), our boss, partner, and friend. Jeffrey Gitomer, an American author, professional speaker and business trainer, writes and lectures internationally on sales, customer loyalty and personal development. In 2003, the Kansas City Star featured Mr. Gitomer’s article entitled Receive Random Act of Kindness? Pass it on!. This piece caught the eye and interest of Attorney Julius F. Wall, who was at the time senior partner ...at Poague, Wall, Cox and Adams, L.L.C., having practiced in the Golden Valley and surrounding area for 43 years. Julius had very humble beginnings, and he was very cognizant of those who had helped him through his struggles and life experiences. It was Julius’s desire to create a benefactor to graduating students in the hope that his anonymous generosity would inspire them to pass it on. He wanted to send a message that once you achieve success in your life, you should perform acts of kindness, not with the idea that it would be repaid by enhancing your reputation, but merely because you are doing something nice for someone. Julius’s nickname in high school was Dooley, and he wanted to incorporate that name to exemplify those who had contributed to his success; hence, the character Matthew B. Dooley was launched. Each year Mr. Dooley contacted the Clinton High School Superintendent’s Office to obtain a roster of graduating seniors. He diligently reviewed the list, and selected 20-25 students who were known to him to have demonstrated outstanding leadership qualities. Mr. Dooley then ordered 1,200 $2 bills from Hawthorn Bank, so that he would have enough $2 bills to distribute $100 each to at least 24 graduating seniors. On occasion, he selected more than 24 students, and would have to substitute a $100 bill for each of those recipients. Mr. Dooley would then prepare a personalized congratulatory Pass It On letter to each of the selected graduates, bind/enclose 50 $2 bills, and mail the gifts the week prior to graduation, using a return address of Clinton School District so as to maintain his anonymity. Mr. Dooley continued this philanthropic practice until his passing in January, 2018. In order to help Mr. Dooley accomplish his goal, there were some who were aware of his true identity, but very few members of the community suspected Julius F. Wall to be the alias Mr. Dooley. It was not until his funeral service on January 8, 2018, that Pastor Randy Shipman announced Julius F. Wall and Mr. Dooley were one and the same. Webster’s defines the word relay as A number of persons who relieve others and The act of passing along, so you could say the beneficiaries of Mr. Dooley’s generosity are his Relay Team. Receive random act of kindness? Pass it on!

Poague, Wall, Cox & Adams recently assisted a client who was involved in a motor vehicle accident while working. The client was a passenger in vehicle driven by a co-worker that crashed with another vehicle. The Highway Patrol determined the co-worker was the sole cause of the accident which generally means under Missouri law the only source of recovery is workers compensation. After investigation, PWCA was able to assist client in proving the other driver was at fault ...and to find two under-insured policies that applied. Client was expecting to receive only workers compensation, which was valued at $12,000, but with the help of PWCA recovered an additional $140,000 from the MVA crash from 3 different policies. If you are injured, please contact us for a free consultation to see if we can assist you in obtaining the compensation you are entitled.
