I just realized my final post for the beetle is missing. I dont have the video any more, but here's a picture of it finished along side the next painting, the ant. I can't wait for school to start back up and I see everyone else's work. All you artists out there, just remember, no matter where you are in your talents, just keep making art. You learn from every piece you succeed on and even more from each one you deem a failure. The only true way to fail, is giving up. See all... you students and staff in a few weeks! Mr. Pierce

Epiode 21: Just Keep Painting, Just Keep Painting In the episode I go over the frustration that can set in when your eyes lie to your brain. There's a certain spot in the process where you feel like you are pretty far along, but it justlooks wrong. This can be due to many reasons. It doesn't have shading, the colors arnt all there, the size feels off, etc. The key is to check what you can to make sure it is actually correct. Is it the right shape and size? Are the colors the correct ones? Yes, then just keep painting. Its not uncommon to look wierd at times before its finished. The difference between a good painting and a great one rest in the details. The details are what make it look round, make colors pop, and direct the viewers eyes. Those are also the last things you paint. Have faith and keep painting.

Episode 20: Time Travel And we are back with a new background! Remember when I said backgrounds were important, well they are important enough that I redid this one. We also talk about style and staying cohesive. The best way to keep pieces looking similar is to make sure you have rules that the painting must follow. It can be how you make the marks, what colors you choose, to any other combination of ideas you set for yourself.

Episode 19: Overpainted Today we discuss overpainting and getting background areas covered. Backgrounds get ignored many times because the focus of the artwork is elsewhere. But a good background is key to a finished look. Even though its not the focus, it can really help make the focus stand out if done well.

Episode 18: Drawing Out a Plan Today we discuss the drawing process and creating your own style. Styles change over time and you can always try knew things but most people have a general style they come back to. Experiment and try to find your own.
