Just received a message from Ron Walter. The food box ministry he organized has apparently come to an end. The company that was putting the boxes together here in Missouri has been outbid by another business in Kansas, so I am assuming there isn't an easy way for Ron to access the food boxes now. If we hear anything else we will let you all know.

There will be another food box giveaway at our store tomorrow, Wednesday October 28th at 10:15AM. Ron Walter will have his refrigerated trailer parked in our driveway at that time to hand out crates that contain milk, assorted dairy goods, and vegetables. We don't have any control over Ron's schedule, in terms of when he gets here or how long he stays. All we do is provide a place for him to park, that will hopefully make it more convenient for folks in our community to access what Ron brings us. So be here early as it does go quickly. Also, since this involves refrigerated goods, we can't hold boxes for people like we did with the crates that only had vegetables. If you can't make it yourself, try to arrange for someone to get a box for you.

Just a quick heads up...a few weeks ago a neighbor who lives close to Red Bluff told us they spoke to a park ranger, who said the campground would be open til Oct. 30th. We passed that info along. Today we found out the gates are locked, probably for the rest of the year. So, it looks like that's all folks for the 2020 camping season - maybe 2021 will turn out better for visitors to Red Bluff.

First thing we saw looking out the back door of the store this morning. An eagle eating his breakfast in the middle of Woodlock Creek. Thought it was one of the store cats that was the main course, as an eagle carried off our kitten a couple of years ago. But they both showed up as we were taking these pics. We spooked the bird off his prey, but he was back a few minutes later.

Update on food giveaway on Weds, Oct 14th - Ron will be here at 10:30 instead of 11:30 as posted earlier.

We have a couple of newsworthy items today: 1. We are going to be getting a delivery of free food boxes this Wednesday, Oct. 14th at 1130am. These boxes will have in addition to vegetables, refrigerated dairy items. The boxes given away last week had a gallon of milk, several containers of yogurt, sour cream, sliced American cheese, scrambled egg package, and frozen chicken legs. Also a bag of apples, bag of potatoes, celery, onions, and cucumbers. The items mite very from ...week to week, but I think that the milk will always be a regular staple. Pastor Ron and his refrigerated trailer will be here at 1130am, and will stay for about 45 minutes. These boxes usually go pretty quick, so I'd recommend getting here early. The milk in last week's delivery had expiration dates of Oct.22nd, and it was pretty good stuff. The other dairy items had dates in Nov, Dec, and Jan - so all no problem there. 2. Red Bluff Campground will be closing later than originally thought - the gates will now close at end of day on Friday, October 30th. Fall camping til then, with the Overlook camping sites being very popular at this time of year, with all the color on display in that panoramic view.
