These insect cocoons were found in the Holocene deposits of Australia.. they are believed to be from the Weevil, Leptopius duponti. Analysis shows that these cocoons were made of sand or gravel with a secretion from the weevil larva. The Solnhofen Plattenkalk, or Solnhofen limestone, is a Jurassic Konservat-Lagerstätte that preserves a rare assemblage of fossilized organisms, including highly detailed imprints of soft bodied organisms such as sea jellies. The most familiar fossils of the Solnhofen Plattenkalk include the early feathered theropod dinosaur Archaeopteryx preserved in such detail that they are among the most famous and most beautiful fossils in the world. The Burlington Formation is a marine limestone, found in rock layers laid down during the Mississippian Period (325-360 million years ago). The Mississippian Period was relatively short-lasting only 35 million years-and its fossil record is almost entirely marine (Thompson, 1982). This is due to the flooding of North America called the Kaskaskia transgression, which began during the Devonian Period (380-450 million years ago). This was interrupted at the end of the Devonia...n Period by partial regression, but deposition continued uninterrupted into the Mississippian Period. The Kaskaskia Sea reached its greatest extent about the middle of the Mississippian Period, and late Mississippian sedimentary rocks of the basins mark its recession. This recession also marks the boundary between the Mississippian and Pennsylvanian Periods in the North America (Clark and Stern, 1960). Thescelosaurus was a genus of small ornithopod dinosaur that appeared at the very end of the Late Cretaceous period in North America. It was a member of the last dinosaurian fauna before the CretaceousPaleogene extinction event around 66 million years ago. The preservation and completeness of many of its specimens indicate that it may have preferred to live near streams. This bipedal ornithopod is known from several partial skeletons and skulls that indicate it grew to betw...een 2.5 and 4.0 meters (8.2 to 13.1 ft) in length on average. It had sturdy hind limbs, small wide hands, and a head with an elongate pointed snout. The form of the teeth and jaws suggest a primarily herbivorous animal. This genus of dinosaur is regarded as a specialized basal ornithopod, traditionally described as a hypsilophodont, but more recently recognized as distinct from Hypsilophodon. Several species have been suggested for this genus. Three currently are recognized as valid: the type species T. neglectus, T. garbanii and T. assiniboiensis. The cave bear (Ursus spelaeus) was a species of bear that lived in Europe during the Pleistocene and became extinct about 24,000 years ago during the Last Glacial Maximum. Both the name cave and the scientific name spelaeus are because fossils of this species were mostly found in caves, showing that cave bears may have spent more time in caves than the brown bear, which uses caves only for hibernation. Consequently, in the course of time, whole layers of bones, almost enti...re skeletons, were found in many caves. The cave bear had a very broad, domed skull with a steep forehead. Its stout body had long thighs, massive shins and in-turning feet, making it similar in skeletal structure to the brown bear. Cave bears were comparable in size to the largest modern-day bears. The average weight for males was 400 to 500 kilograms (880 to 1,100 lb), while females weighed 225 to 250 kg (495 to 550 lb). Gorgosaurus (meaning dreadful lizard) is a genus of tyrannosaurid theropod dinosaur that lived in western North America during the Late Cretaceous Period (Campanian), between about 76.6 and 75.1 million years ago. Fossil remains have been found in the Canadian province of Alberta and the U.S. state of Montana. Among the best-known sauropods, Diplodocus were very large, long-necked, quadrupedal animals, with long, whip-like tails. Their fore limbs were slightly shorter than their hind limbs, resulting in a largely horizontal posture. The skeletal structure of these long-necked, long-tailed animals supported by four sturdy legs have been compared with suspension bridges. In fact, Diplodocus carnegii is currently one of the longest dinosaurs known from a complete skeleton, with a tota...l length of 25 metres (82 ft). Modern mass estimates for Diplodocus carnegii have tended to be in the 11 to 13-ton) range. Diplodocus had an extremely long tail, composed of about 80 caudal vertebrae, which are almost double the number some of the earlier sauropods had in their tails (such asShunosaurus with 43), and far more than contemporaneous macronarians had (such as Camarasaurus with 53). Some speculation exists as to whether it may have had a defensive or noisemaking (by cracking it like a whip) function. The tail may have served as a counterbalance for the neck. The middle part of the tail had ‘double beams’ (oddly shaped chevron bones on the underside, which gave Diplodocus its name). They may have provided support for the vertebrae, or perhaps prevented the blood vessels from being crushed if the animal’s heavy tail pressed against the ground. These ‘double beams’ are also seen in some related dinosaurs. Like other sauropods, the manus (front feet) of Diplodocus were highly modified, with the finger and hand bones arranged into a vertical column, horseshoe-shaped in cross section.Diplodocus lacked claws on all but one digit of the front limb, and this claw was unusually large relative to other sauropods, flattened from side to side, and detached from the bones of the hand. The function of this unusually specialized claw is unknown. Click On The Link Below To Order Today! https://indiana9fossils.com/pr/diplodocus-dinosaur-tooth-3/

Ischyromys is an extinct genus of rodent from North America, often labeled as a Squirrel. It possessed strong hind limbs with claws on each five toes of its hind feet, like modern rodents. It is believed that Ischyromys was an efficient tree climber like squirrels today. These ancient rodents grew to about two feet (over half a meter) in length, and resembled large mice in appearance, but probably lived in trees like squirrels do today. While they are considered among th...e more primitive rodents, Ischyromys had large front teeth (called incisors) like the rodents we are familiar with today. Ischyromys is the most common Early Oligocene fossil rodent found in South Dakota, Nebraska, Wyoming and Colorado. It has also been found as far north as Saskatchewan, Canada and as far south as Texas. Ischyromys went extinct around 25 million years ago. The only living relative is the distantly related mountain beaver (Aplodontia rufa), a small rodent that now lives along the west coast of North America. Fossil Coeloma Crab Nodules from Denmark are found along the Limfjords coast in the Jutland region in Denmark. When conditions are just right after Winter or heavy rains, the gray, round nodules are exposed in the clay and collected. The nodules are then cracked open to see if there are any crabs inside. Only 1 out of 10 nodules will contain anything worth preparing. Then the painstaking task of preparation begins. The nodule must be placed back together and repaired. Then air scribes and air abrasives are used to prep the crabs. After MANY hours of preparation, the nodule is whole again with a beautiful crab inside! There is very little reconstruction on these crabs. Click On The Link Below To Learn More Information Now! https://indiana9fossils.com/product/denmark-coeloma-crab-6/
