A MULTIDIMENSIONAL DEPICTION OF THE NADIS AND ENERGY CENTERS Ancient Hindu texts have mentioned about the nadis in relation to the human energy system - these a...re pathways or channels which carry energy, prana, or life force throughout the whole human energy system. The word nadis comes from the Sanskrit root nad which means hollow stalk. The nadis are connected which each other through major or minor energy centers. Through the nadis, prana the breath of life flows. An ancient Hindu text further tells us they are identical to the human nervous system, one text applies that seventy two thousand nadis originate in an egg shaped organ in the navel area. These egg shaped energy centers facilitate the transmission and transmutation of prana throughout the human energy system. They proceed to different parts of the body to perform special functions.
