Gastrointestinal dysfunction does not pick and choose who it targets and it certainly does not overlook babies. In a 2008 study authored by Dr. Larry S. Arbeitman, D.C, researchers chose three infants who were experiencing infrequent bowel movements from once a week to once every 3 or 4 days. Parents of these infants had tried several different laxatives and other procedures recommended by their medical staff. They had also followed specific dietary changes and the use of cod... liver oil and mineral oil without any results. The infants then began wellness oriented chiropractic for periods ranging from three weeks to three months. Dr. Larry S. Arbeitman, D.C. concluded that all three experienced almost immediate improvement and by the end of the study, all three had bowel movements at least once every day. This is no coincidence! Are you sick and tired of being sick and tired? If so, there’s a good chance that your immune system is not performing optimally. Misalignments (or subluxations) in the spine will cause poor communication between your brain and your immune system. Chiropractors restore that broken communication through gentle adjustments that align your vertebrae which helps allow your body to take better care of itself. ... With a properly functioning central nervous system, your immune system will be better equipped to defend your body from disease and infection. Please let us know if you have any questions! Take home message below! ~Dr. Whitney Anything That Reduces Inflammation Also Delays Healing "Anything that reduces your immune response will also delay muscle healing. Thus, healing is delayed by:... cortisone-type drugs, almost all pain-relieving medicines, such as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen (Pharmaceuticals, 2010;3(5)), immune suppressants that are often used to treat arthritis, cancer or psoriasis, applying cold packs or ice, and anything else that blocks the immune response to injury." "When I wrote my best-selling Sportsmedicine Book in 1978, I coined the term RICE (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation) for the treatment of athletic injuries (Little Brown and Co., page 94). Ice has been a standard treatment for injuries and sore muscles because it helps to relieve pain caused by injured tissue. Coaches have used my RICE guideline for decades, but now it appears that both Ice and complete Rest may delay healing, instead of helping. In a recent study, athletes were told to exercise so intensely that they developed severe muscle damage that caused extensive muscle soreness. Although cooling delayed swelling, it did not hasten recovery from this muscle damage (The American Journal of Sports Medicine, June 2013). A summary of 22 scientific articles found almost no evidence that ice and compression hastened healing over the use of compression alone, although ice plus exercise may marginally help to heal ankle sprains (The American Journal of Sports Medicine, January, 2004;32(1):251-261)."

"Self-Care is the trending buzzphrase for the 2020s, shifting our focus away from cosmetic interventions, multi-tasking and extreme workouts, and zeroing in on stress management, inner healing and raising our collective vibe. An important element of self-care is staying connected to your body and tapping into its intrinsic healing mechanisms. Chiropractic care is a holistic approach to health and wellness that acknowledges the interdependence of all your body’s systems. Unlik...e traditional medical care that breaks your body down into isolated organs, structures and systems, chiropractic care respects the interconnectedness of your entire organism and seeks to promote harmony among its various components. Contrary to popular belief, chiropractors do much more than treat back pain. A reputable, experienced and well-trained chiropractor can help relieve aches and pains throughout your body, and facilitate optimal alignment for more fluid and efficient movement. Think of regular chiropractic care as a tune-up for your body, much like regularly scheduled maintenance for your car." #selfcare #alignmentmatters #prairiewellnesscenter #GetChecked
