We are saddened to hear and report that Harry Guinn has passed away. His son called B.A. last night to inform us that Harry passed away yesterday afternoon, June 1. Harry served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher at Park Plaza until health concerns caused him to step down from these positions within the past few years. Harry and Doris moved to Oklahoma City several months ago to be near their family. We had received word recently that Harry had been hospitalized and that his health was failing. We are saddened by our earthly loss, but rejoice in his eternal reward. Funeral services are not finalized, but will probably be next Monday, June 7, at Park Plaza Christian Church. We will update this post when we know more definite information. Please keep Doris and her family in your prayers.
The video for the May 30, 2021 Morning Worship Service for Park Plaza Christian Church is in the process of being posted to YouTube. It will be available at the following link: https://youtu.be/HBoTlwqxO6c Sunday, May 30, 2021, Park Plaza Christian Church Worship service. Mark Scott is continuing his series THE ONE WITH POWER with a message from Matthew 12:22-37, titled The Miracles of Jesus Stir Controversy, Part 2. Marshall Hinds led the song service and Kevin Frentrup... concluded the service with the Communion Meditation. David Freis presented the special music, singing Let the Angels Take the Fallen, in honor of Memorial Day. At the end of the service a special presentation for B.A. and Linda Austin, was held. This was B.A.’s last Sunday as Senior Minister, although he will continue working with us in a part-time status concentrating on Shepherding. Unfortunately, we had some technical difficulties and the audio portion of the first part of the service did not record, nor did the musical accompaniment for the special music.

We had great service at Park Plaza yesterday. Ed John's, President of the Koinonia Board, was present to give us a report on the campus ministry at MSSU and to thank our congregation for its support. Then Randy Gariss was our surprise guest speaker as we commemorated the 10th anniversary of the Joplin tornado. He gave a very moving message!
CONGRATULATIONS to Park Plaza's Youth Coordinator, HANNAH HENADY, who graduated with honors from Ozark Christian College on May 15 with a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies!

Clarification: It has been posted on more than one source that Mark Scott has been hired as Park Plaza's new full time minister. The actual announcement should say that our Elders have unanimously recommended Mark to become our new full time minister as of June 1, 2021, but the congregation will vote on this recommendation at our congregational meeting on November 18. This announcement was made during our morning worship service yesterday, Oct. 25. A letter has been mailed to all of our members/active attendees which will give more information on this matter. Thank you. Marshall
Due to a recent increase in concern over the Corona Virus we have decided to cancel Sunday Evening Services and Wednesday Night Bible Study for the time being beginning 10-25-20. We will make an announcement when we are ready to resume these services.
David is also one of our Associate Ministers. If you see him, give him a big congrats.
Oops. I was reminded that I left off our senior minister, B.A. Austin, who is an excellent pianist. (How could I forget him?)
There have been numerous pianists and organists at Park Plaza over its 60 year history. The first ones that I am aware of dating back to the earliest years include Berniece Sulzner and Mildred Greenwood. Berniece continued for many years and was later joined by Michele York, Eileen Strack and Helen Johnson. In more recent years Martin Williams has been the main organist. Others who have helped on the piano and organ in the 12 years that I have been at Park Plaza include: ... Jeneane Chartier, Denise Crane, Patti DeArmond, Shirley Foreman, Raetta Logan, Brenda Plagmann, Marje Taylor and Laura Weaver. Helen Johnson has ministered to us through her music longer than any of the others. As of this year she has played the piano (and sometimes organ) at Park Plaza for at least 45 years. A BIG THANK YOU to all who have helped with our music through the years! (Pictured below: 1. Mildred Greenwood, 2. Berniece Sulzner, Eileen Strack and Helen Johnson, 3. Helen and Leigh Ann Johnson (Replogle), 4. Helen Johnson Playing the newly acquired Yamaha Grand piano in 2010. See more

I found a few really OLD choir pictures. (They are a little before my time.) The pictures are a little "fuzzy", but maybe you can tell who some of the people are. The fourth picture is the women's Bible study group. If you recognize anyone let me know.
Mark Scott will be preaching again this Sunday morning. Our choir is smaller this year due to the COVID virus, but we also plan to sing Sunday for the first time since last February. We hope to see you there. Mark's sermon as well as last Sunday's sermon by Kenny Boles will be available to watch on YouTube at a later date, but probably not until the end of next week at the earliest. Thanks for your understanding.
