Polk County Missouri Prosecuting Attorney's Office 09.12.2020

DATE: March 2, 2018 RE: James Machabee Jr. found guilty of Burglary 1st degree. Polk County Prosecuting Attorney Kenneth Ashlock announced today that James William Machabee Jr., was found guilty after a jury trial presided over by Associate Court Judge Elizabeth Rohrs on March 2, 2018. ... Evidence presented by the State showed that Machabee had committed the crime Burglary in the 1st degree. The case was investigated by both Bolivar Police Department and the Polk County Sheriff’s Office. Mr. Kenneth Ashlock presented the case to the jury explaining the crime that Machabee had committed. Machabee has 3 prior felony convictions. Burglary 1st degree is a class B felony and carries a sentence of no less than 10 years, up to 30 years or life because of Machabee’s prior and persistent offender status. Sentencing for Machabee will be held on May 7th at 1:00 pm.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE DATE: March 2, 2018 RE: Sherry Lewis found guilty of Sodomy 2nd Degree, a class D felony, and Incest, a class E felony. ... Polk County Prosecuting Attorney Kenneth Ashlock announced that Sherry Lewis, was found guilty after a bench trial presided over by Circuit Court Judge Michael Hendrickson on February 26th, 2018. Evidence presented by the State showed that Lewis had committed the felony crimes of Sodomy 2nd degree and Incest. The case was investigated by Bolivar Police Department. Mr. Kenneth Ashlock presented the case to the judge explaining the crime Lewis had committed. Sodomy 2nd carries a sentence of up to 7 years, and Incest carries a sentence of up to 4 years in the Missouri Department of Corrections. Sentencing for Lewis will be held on May 14th at 9:00 am.
