Advent is a time of anticipation and preparation for Christmas. We do this in our homes, but we do it in our hearts as well. This year we're exploring Advent through a series called "Learning to Walk in the Dark." December is the darkest month of the year, and at the end of 2020 we tend to feel like there has been a lot of darkness all around us. But what if we could learn to think about darkness in a different way? What if the darkness has just as much to teach us as the lig...ht? And when we really stop and think about it, in our Christmas story God shows up -- in the dark -- many times! While the Christmas season is usually thought of as a time of celebration, it is important to recognize that for some the Christmas season is something other than merry and bright. People have undergone unprecedented loss this year. Family and friends have succumbed to death in this pandemic, millions have lost economic security through loss of jobs, some have lost business they built over a lifetime. Most of us have lost our beloved rhythms of life that felt familiar. Our ...Longest Night Service (or Blue Christmas service) is to acknowledge the feelings of loss and heartbreak and seek God’s new grace. If you are grieving a loss, of whatever kind, we invite you to this live streaming service filled with the words of God, music and light.
