Kaysinger Bluff Pioneer Heritage Association (KBPHA) has cancelled the 2020 Pioneer Heritage Days at the Truman Visitors Center on Kaysinger Bluff. We felt that it is important to protect our board members, volunteers, exhibitors, our attendees, and the community we all live in, against the rising numbers of COVID. We look forward to next years Pioneer Heritage Days as everyone celebrates Missouri’s Bicentennial. Warsaw Heritage Days, hosted by the Warsaw Area Chamber of Commerce will continue October 17 - 18th 2020 in downtown Warsaw at Drake Harbor.

Biscuits and Gravy. The iconic breakfast of Pioneer Heritage Days! The above image is of the original biscuit "receipt" from Ann Kahler (1990 PHD publication). The biscuits were baked in a wood cookstove that required a bit of skill to churn out tasty meals. While Ann Kahler was making biscuits, her husband Cliff Kahler was busy demonstrating meat preservation of the time. Did somebody say sausage gravy?! Don't forget the fresh homemade butter. Who can resist a warm biscuit fresh out of the oven with a chunk of melting butter in the center? Remember, Pioneer Heritage Days at the Truman Visitors Center is cancelled for 2020. Bring a little taste of history into your home this weekend!

Due to school and park closures as a result of COVID 19, we were unable to host Living History Day for regional grade school students this year. We are missing everyone this year and look forward to our Pioneer Heritage Days October 17-18! (Check our events tab to stay up to date!) For now, stay safe and stay well! Be sure to keep an eye on Harry S Truman Lake, US Army Corps of Engineers facebook page for opening day updates.

Happy St. Patrick's Day! Here's a great video entitled Maggie Delaney: Her Story. Townsends presents the story of Maggie, an Irish indentured servant who gains passage to the new world, only to lose her family in the process. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jqOgWngL5aY
