February 18, 2021 Dear Valued Customers, Last week it was announced that the Federal Emergency... Management Agency (FEMA) will provide funeral assistance for deaths associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. It has been widely reported that FEMA plans to reimburse families up to $7,000 for certain qualified COVID-19 related funeral and burial costs including, but not limited to, interment, burial plots/cremation niches, and bronze and granite markers/headstones. The funding will be available for qualified costs incurred between January 20, 2020, and December 31, 2020. According to a recent Congressional press conference, Congress will attempt to extend the funding to funerals taking place in 2021, although that is not final or guaranteed. FEMA will publish details about qualifications and how families can apply for reimbursement in the near future. Phelps County Monuments will close at 3:00 PM today, Thursday Dec. 31, 2020 and remain closed until Monday January 4, 2021. We hope you all have a very safe and Happy New Year! Heavy on the safe y'all. We pray that we will see great changes in 2021, such as the end to the Coronavirus and the healing of our great nation. Hopefully we will see a return to normalcy in our daily lives with children returning to school with no concerns of contracting the coronavirus and no more mask mandates. We understand that it will take part of 2021 to get people vaccinated so we can begin to heal our people and our nation as well as the rest of the world. 2020 has been a very difficult year for all of us and we here at Phelps County Monuments wish you all a healthy, prosperous and Happy New Year!
