Looking for volunteers!!! The Health Department is going to be using the Emergency Operations Center as a call center to help County residents register for dose...s of the COVID 19 vaccine. They’re looking for volunteers who could be available to answer phones to assist folks who don’t have internet access in signing up. Call takers would effectively just be filling out an online form on the behalf of these residents. We’re hoping to kick things off on 2/8/2021 at 09:00 at the EOC (1409 Herculaneum Industrial Drive). We’re scheduling two shifts daily that will run 09:00-1:00 and 1:00-5:00, Monday-Friday through February 11. The Health Department will have a staff member at the EOC to provide just-in-time training and to field any questions or concerns. We will also, of course, be keeping folks well-spaced out in the EOC. If you or anyone with your agency would be interested in taking a shift, I just need a name, a good email address, and their availability. This is an evolving mission and the number of people needed for staffing may grow or shrink as we measure demand. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Thanks, Warren Robinson Director, Jefferson County Office of Emergency Management 636-797-5381

Let's Talk Separation Anxiety ... Feeling a bit anxious when separating from caregivers is a normal part of childhood development and generally nothing to worry... about. Most kids are overcoming this worry by the time they enter kindergarten. By then, they’re separating from their parents regularly and learning that it’s safe and their parents will soon return. But for some kids, the anxiety just keeps getting worse.... Read 8 strategies for separation anxiety here: https://hes-extraordinary.com/overcome-separation-anxiety-i

This is open to anyone who is a parent, grandparent, or caregiver (or service worker who might be interested in experiencing a parent café prior to inviting cli...ents to future cafés). Parent Cafés are physically and emotionally safe spaces where parents and caregivers talk about the challenges and victories of raising a family. Through individual deep self-reflection and peer-to-peer learning, participants explore their strengths, learn about the Protective Factors, and create strategies from their own wisdom and experiences to help strengthen their families. Cafés are structured discussions that use the principles of adult learning and family support. They are highly sustainable with training reinforcement, institutional support, and a commitment to an approach that engages and affirms parents as leaders. Participants leave Parent Cafés feeling inspired, energized, and excited to put into practice what they’ve learned. See more
