I am working on putting together some talks out at the nursery. I am looking for feedback on what people are most interested in learning about. Please let me know what you want to hear. Pictured is our native Yarrow (Achillea millefolium).
For those of you who don’t know what to do with your plastic pots and trays, we will take them even if they aren’t ours. Whatever we can’t use we try to share with others or recycle.
One of my absolute favorite shade plants, Blephilia ciliata (Downy Wood Mint). It does not spread like mint so don’t worry. It is blooming now and is a great pollinator plant. It prefers drier soil so it fits right in with my routine at home! It smells a little bit minty so the deer leave it alone. The blooms are about 24 high but the plant itself forms a nice mat against the ground.
Spigelia marilandica (Indian Pink) is almost at it’s peak right now. This is probably one of the most perfect plants. It grows in part shade to full shade in wet or dry soil. A great hummingbird plant for shade! The deer do tend to nip the tips off sometimes. I do put some repellent on mine just to be sure. We will have plenty for sale in about 2 weeks.
The vendor list is out for today. Lots of good stuff! I know I am bringing an empty cooler to fill up
Come and see us at the Maplewood Market later today! It will be our first time there.
Probably the last Monarch of the season. Glad it will still be warm for a few more days.
Cleaning Sweet Goldenrod (Solidago odora) seed today. It smells just like licorice! It is funny because I love that smell but I hate licorice. I guess I am just weird!
I am actually landscaping my own yard! I planted until dark but didn’t quite get it all in. This is only the beginning! It will probably take me the whole month of November to get it all done. Every hole I dug involved busting up tree roots. I will sleep good tonight!
Come out and see us Saturday, going to be a great lineup!
A friend of mine is teaching this and she really knows her stuff!
