Spring is in full swing, although the season has taken on a much different tone in this COVID-19 era. As you’re likely spending a lot more time at home, we encourage you to stay busy. But, as Henry David Thoreau once wrote, It is not enough to be busy; so are the ants. The question is: What are we busy about? If you’re thinking of being busy about maintaining your home this spring, we have some items for you to continue on your checklist! Given the weather is changing (ideally for the better), now is a good time to clear dead plants and shrubs away from the house. Observe for trees that may be in contact with electrical lines. Repairing and replacing any damaged window screens is also something to tackle. And, safely check your roof for any leaks or damages from the ground with binoculars. Review the expiration date on all of your fire extinguishers. Inside your home, you’ll want to continue disinfecting as much as possible, particularly surfaces you frequently touch. This is good advice not for just when we’re facing a pandemic, but something to keep in mind all of the time. Also, inspect or change out HVAC filters as needed.
