The nut by many names.... Chinquapin Chestnut, Allegheny Chinquapin, American Chinquapin, Dwarf Chestnut or scientifically known as Castanea Pumila These wonderful trees have a native range from SE Pennsylvania to Central Florida over to East Texas. They produce small rich sweet nuts which European settlers noted Natives considered a delicacy while they drank a tea made from the leaves to alleviate fever and headaches. The trees attract various wildlife including chipmunk, sq...uirrel, rabbits, deer, and if pruned to have multiple stalks make a wonderful habitat for wild turkey, quail, grouse, and various other game birds. The trees are resistant to blight which wiped out most American Chestnuts so is a hardy and quick growing variety making a great addition to your landscaping producing beautiful blooms in the Spring, lush Summer foliage, and a beautiful yellow thru the fall. Seeds are rare and difficult to come by but this year, we've managed to beat the wildlife to a few and harvested 50 nuts ready to be grown into your new favorite wildlife draw and landscaping addition. Seeds are $1/each buyer is responsible for shipping. With such a limited supply, orders will be filled on a first come first served basis.
