Randy and I would like to send a plea out to our local community. Winter is coming, and for most companies in this area that means holding on until we see the sunshine and activity of spring again. It's scary on a normal year. As business owners there's been organization that we have watched support our entire business community without much recognition. When everyone else was scared and didn't know how to get back to work, didn't know what to do with the children, how do the...y go back to school?... Boys and Girls Club was open during the entire pandemic. Somehow they managed to keep their facility clean and operating and the children safe. They kept them safe through the summer and into school season so the parents could get back to work. As we have pitched in to help Casie with her two little ones, so that she can stay working in our business, we have come to realize just how much the Boys and Girls Club supports our community. As I wait in line to drop off my grand-daughter I see parents in fire uniforms, nurses, single moms, single dads, and everyone else just desperate to be able to get to work. A couple of weeks ago I showed up and was in line for pickup. I could tell by the distraught look in the single Mom's face, who takes care of our community's children and grandchildren, that something was wrong. She was giving out bad news to each parent in line. She had to inform everyone that due to lack of funding they were cutting back hours. As a business owner I knew what the impact of that is. This just cut back everyone's hours who is working. it's so easy to hear the unemployment numbers and assume so many people do not want to work. But I see, the line at Boys and Girls Club starts almost 30 minutes before they open, people are desperate to get to work. The Boys and Girls Club was not able to do their annual fundraiser in November and now they must wait till spring. This organization impacts Branson, Reeds Spring and Hollister. Our entire community. Did you know? There is no other solution for after school daycare in our area. Our heart goes out to these young parents as we know they have to decide between leaving their child at home after school, or being able to work. Won't you please help to keep the young parents of our community working, and our children safe? If you have not made your final donation commitments for the year, Randy and I are pleading that you consider including the Boys and Girls Club in your donation plans. Did you know... this is a Christian organization? Shame on us, we did not. I took a picture of the back of their lanyard tag, it's posted below. Let's keep this place open!
