Solemnity of the Most Holy Body & Blood of Christ

Our Lady of Sorrows 11.10.2020

An update from Deacon Tyrone, sent to the Parish this week: Greetings Brother and Sisters, I just wanted to take the time to reach out to you and let you know what is happening here at Our Lady of Sorrows.... Currently, we are having all our weekend masses and although they began with light attendance, we are beginning to see growth and hope that soon we will all be rejoined in our celebrations. We are currently trying to find a secure and private way to hold confessions since, at this time, we cannot use the confessional booths, but we will keep you posted on changes. Currently we are not having daily mass. Many of the priests who normally staffed these for us are elderly and have elected at this time to refrain from doing public masses. But we are still holding Adoration on Tuesday and Thursday from 10:30 AM 12 noon with benediction. It is a great way to spend some quiet time with our Lord. We will also be having a special mass on Saturday June 13 at 10AM for St. Anthony, a beloved Franciscan saint. We will offer other masses later in the year for St. Clare and St. Francis to keep in touch with our rich tradition of when the Franciscans staffed the parish for nearly 100 years. I personally want to thank all of you on behalf of the staff who have made the sacrifice to keep tithing during this turbulent time it is greatly appreciated. Also, for those who have been impacted severely, economically please feel free to contact the office because we may be able to assist you. Unfortunately, for the time being we cannot allow social groups to meet at the parish until the Mayor and bishop’s office changes some of their restrictions. Also, if anyone happens to have an extra Lysol type of disinfectant spray cans we would like for you to consider donating it to the parish so we can safely clean our church between masses. Our current provider is experiencing a delay in receiving shipments, so any assistance is appreciated. Again, thank you all so much for all you have done to help us at the parish as we work to navigate this new world we are living in, and let us continue to pray for one another and our society. Many Blessings on you and your families, Dcn Tyrone

We are glad to announce live masses will begin againin a slightly different formatstarting the weekend of May 1617, at our regular times: 4pm Saturday Vigil, 8am & 11am Sunday. Please follow these guidelines issued by the Bishop's office in accordance with CDC, State and Local governments: Stay home if you have been ill in the previous two weeks. Wear a mask to enter the church. You will be turned away without one. However, it is up to parents to decide if children... need a mask. Practice safe distancing keeping at least 6 feet apart. Families may sit together without a 6-foot space separation. Sit in designated pews only. Listen closely and follow all instructions from clergy during the mass. Follow tape markings on floor for communion we will give further instructions for communion during the mass. Take communion by hand ONLY. Do not congregate before or after the mass with fellow parishioners. We know this is hard, but it is for your safety. You'll notice a few things are missing: No hymnals in pews No Holy Water in fonts No wine distributed at communion A few words from Deacon Tyrone: We must concentrate on the blessing of celebrating the Eucharist again rather than the restrictions and allow this trial to make us stronger in our faith and become more appreciative of all our gifts. We look forward to being reunited with all of you at our coming Masses. Stay safe and keep smiling.
