May 19, 2021 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE PAVEMENT PRESERVATION SEAL APPLICATION BEGINS NEXT WEEK... Work to apply an asphalt rejuvenator to area roads will begin on Monday, May 24th, weather permitting. Corrective Asphalt Materials, LLC was awarded the $130,000 project by the County Commission in April. The following roads will have the seal applied: Terra Bella Dr., Terra Bella Ct., Kendalwood Ct., Meeting St., Catalina Dr., Cross Key Ct., Ashley Ct., Wellington Green, Grand Point Ct., Sunnybrook Ct., Highland Waye, Aberdeen Waye, Balmoral Waye, Coventry Waye, Dalwhinnie Waye, Edinburgh Waye, Scrivner Rd., Blackburn Ln., Mt. Hope Rd., Waterford Rd., and W. Lohman Rd. Motorist can expect long delays and are asked to use alternate routes, if possible. Residents along these roads are asked to keep all vehicles and items off the roadways while the contractor is in the area. The project is scheduled to last the next couple of weeks. The purpose of the asphalt rejuvenator is to extend the life the newly placed asphalt overlay. New asphalt pavements will lose a significant amount of their asphalt chemical binding properties within the first few years. The rejuvenator is an asphalt oil that penetrates into the pavement restoring the binding properties. It is applied as a preventive maintenance measure to ensure that the pavement is maintained in a good condition for a long as possible. The Public Works department understands there will be inconveniences due to this project and we are being proactive in dealing with potential issues up front. Innovative contracting allowed the contractor to design a way to keep the inconveniences to a minimum. We are excited about the long term benefits this project will bring to the area and appreciate the public’s cooperation over the course of this year. Tonight the Osage Fire Protection District preformed annual maintenance and training on the dry hydrants in our fire district. We would like to take the time to thank the residents in our district for allowing us to have this valuable asset on their property for us to use when our water resources are slim. The Osage Fire Protection District is not the only district that use dry hydrants, the other surrounding districts also have dry hydrants that they utilize as well in their area.
