As we approach Easter, we may be led to contemplate how God has worked with humanity throughout the roughly 6000 years of human history. God has worked across all generations to reveal Himself, His holy standards, and ultimately His perfect plans of human redemption as performed through His Messiah, Jesus Christ. For the last 2,000 years, He has been completing "a people for His own possession", or the Church, in preparation for His coming Kingdom on Earth. The entire hist...ory of mankind may be summarized in God creating man, revealing Himself to man, and then redeeming those men and women who truly love Him and want to live with Him forever. That is the ultimate meaning of this life. It's so simple, yet so many folks never figure it out. The historical events of Easter concerning the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ are the focal event of all human history. He is truly worthy of all our praise. See more

As we approach the end of this age, we are seeing signs all around us that the time is getting short. One of the more prevalent signs of the times is the extreme division that exists between various peoples today. The divisions are so sharp and divisive that it seems at times there is no hope of peaceful co-existence. It seems some people are so locked into their own opinions and self-assuredness that they cannot and will not listen to or consider any input that contradict...s what they believe. This hard-hearted entrenchment is dangerous and detrimental to peace between people. It leads to real hatred and at times, retaliations and violence against people they deem as "wrong", "misguided", or "evil". It is certainly not the kind of loving, peaceful, and righteous attitudes that God desired from His creation. People with this superior attitude may view themselves as legends in their own eyes and heroes of society, destined to re-create it in their own image. In a very real sense, they have lost the ability to self-examine themselves in an objective way, and they really don't want to. See more

Today is Valentine's Day, and yes, there actually was a St. Valentine. He was a priest or bishop in the 2nd Century who ministered to persecuted Christians and was martyred for His faith in AD 269. The Feast of St. Valentine was established in AD 496, and has evolved into today's February 14th celebration of "love" -- which can mean many different things today. The Biblical kind of love that the Father is known for is called "agape". "Agape" is the Greek word for the tota...lly inclusive and unconditional love which God has for mankind, as opposed to a fraternal or sensual kind of love which is very much present today. Agape love is that which brought Jesus down to earth, led Him to Calvary, put Him on the cross, and kept Him on the cross to die for my sins and for yours. That eternal kind of love will also bring Him back to reclaim His creation and perfect it for all eternity. God's perfect love is truly the right kind of love for this world. See more

Taking a break from the trials of the world around us, today we will look at the 8th Essential of the Faith: "Salvation by faith, apart from works". These essentials are those doctrines that cannot be removed or compromised on or the Faith becomes invalid and void. They are essential to God's truths concerning His holiness, righteousness, and our fallen state and need for salvation. God grants eternal salvation to anyone who believes on and receives His Son, Jesus as the C...hrist. No strings attached. Nothing to do but trust Him, believe Him, and follow Him. It's so easy, so many people miss it because they are looking for something difficult or complicated that God must require of us to grant us such a treasured prize as forgiveness and eternal life. In truth, the Gospel is so simple that the smallest child can grasp it -- and many do. God is so good. He grants us His forgiveness even though we certainly don't deserve it. That's real love.
