It’s clear for WEN. Women need support more than ever. Women struggling don’t just need help finding work or learning financial skills, they need a network of... support. WEN supports the whole woman with personalized coaching, offering a network of support that addresses her job search, budget, credit, career development, and personal development. We see first-hand the very real financial consequences that are being borne largely by women, and disproportionately by BIWOC (Black, Indigenous, and women of color) right here in Kansas City. Your support ensures that women in our community, like Kami (pictured above with Lynnette Williams, WEN Vice President Program and Services), can continue to count on WEN’s support. Read Kami's story at kcwen.org/supportwomen. Make a gift of $10, $25, $50, or any amount now at kcwen.org/donate for #GivingTuesday. See more

Women's Employment Network would like to celebrate Andrea Shelton-Hendricks, Senior Executive & Director of Diversity, Inclusion Strategy at Cerner Corporation ...and WEN 2020 Annual Luncheon co-chair for her leadership on Cerner's first and new 2019 D&I report (www.cerner.com//introducing-the-2019-cerner-diversity-and-.) This accomplishment dovetails with our mission to help women achieve economic self-sufficiency through sustained employment. WEN will continue to stand with those doing their part to support the long-term success of women in Kansas City by working to remove the barriers to employment faced disproportionately by BIWOC (Black, Indigenous, and women of color). #ForwardFriday #DEI #Diversity #inclusion #leadership

This news article is just one of many detailing the ways in which women are bearing the brunt of the social AND economic impact of the coronavirus pandemic. (www.nbcnews.com//child-care-providers-struggle-need-servic) Here at Women's Employment Network, we remain more committed than ever to empowering women's economic self-sufficiency through sustained employment. But, we are facing historic challenges. That's why we're grateful to GlobalGiving Coronavirus Relief Fund for their emergency grant to help our Kansas City community as they deal with this crisis. We extend our sincere thanks to GlobalGiving and to all of the volunteers, staff, donors, and community partners who make our work possible. www.globalgiving.org/projects/coronavirus-relief-fund/ #ThankfulThursday
We had a mental health crisis happening before the pandemic, but it’s been amplified by the layers of stress this year. A recent study showed 2 out of 3 adults are depressed or anxious because of the pandemic. But there’s a movement happening to fight the battle thanks to our friends Small Changes Big Shifts and Lockton Companies and the OneKC for Women Alliance is in huge support of it. Check it out here it starts October 14: www.smallchangesbigshifts.com/kindness (PS: We think you should join us!)
