Sometimes when it’s late in the day and there are a couple of boxes of new spring yarns to test, I start testing. I find myself habitually casting on the same dishcloth to test cottons Because I love the pattern and I don’t have to think about it, and also because there’s no better way to test a cotton than to take it home and beat it around on dishes. I made it to the shop.the shop where I face-planted twice trying to get to the door..the shop where anyone will need 4-wheel-drive to parkthe shop where 4’ ice daggers are hanging all around the porch. The shovel is missing, it’s too cold for salt, and there’s a weird whining sound in here. I’m not being negative, just stating facts. So call before you come today because I haven’t fully decided whether it’s safe or not. If you need something and know what it is, I’ll stay here until at least 2:00 and do curbside pickup.

Planning on attempting to be open tomorrow (how was that for vague?). My problem will be getting out of my driveway and country lane. I’ll let you know how it goes tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed.

Throughout the past year I have consistently based my shop policies on science and CDC guidance recommendations. I feel to change that now would be both disingenuous and hypocritical. So, going forward, these will be my new policies at One City Market. I am fully vaccinated and have been for quite a while. However, I will continue to mask and sanitize often to further protect you. I hope you will too. CDC guidance says VACCINATED people may forego masking, indoors and out..., if they so choose. UNVACCINATED people are asked to continue wearing a mask indoors. As we are all grown ass adults, I will expect us all to be honest about vaccine status. I will not become the vaccine police and ask for proof (quite frankly, I’ve been called enough names over the past year to last me awhile). If you are not vaccinated, please be honest and wear your mask while in my shop. If this proves to be a problem, I’ll adapt my policies. Because I know many of you are immune compromised, have children under 12 at home, or have other high risk issues, please know you can call ahead and I will make arrangements for you to shop alone and/or request everyone in the shop mask up while you are here. I will do everything in my power to keep you safe while in my shop, with no judgement or embarrassment. Know the potential is still there that quarantine may be needed. I ask that you be understanding if I have to close sometimes, whether it be for my safety or yours, or a couple of days a month for appointments, etc. I do my utmost best to give advance notice of this, but ugly Yelp and Google reviews, as well as ugly messages at the shop because you chose not to check Facebook or IG, do not make it any easier to deal with. We are all doing the best we can with life in these unprecedented times. Whatever I can do to make you feel safe, make your shopping experience more enjoyable, or help.......just let me know.

How will things at One City Market change if masks are deemed mandatory? They won’t....Zip, Nada, None, Zero.....we’ve been requiring masks since reopening and have no plans to change. We’ve also been asking you to sanitize your hands, sanitizing doorknobs, credit card machines, and any other often touched areas between each customer, and spending extra time sanitizing morning and evening. We aren’t changing that either.

Snow Day By 11 I’m feeling guilty at home because there are things to be done at the shop. Get dressed (kinda ) and head out. ... Arrive at the shop, open box #1, love the little packages so much I just sit and smile. Open one box of them, decide I just want to open and smile at the other boxes with packages intact. New yarn. Must have new pattern. Enter the black hole of patterns, still dreaming about all the unopened prezzies. Get two orders ready to ship, feeling guilty I’m not home cooking dog food for da boy. Take some new yarn to play with, lock back up, deliver packages to post office, home again. Just in case you have ever felt your yarn addiction is bad. Welcome to my world. Sorry, tomorrow there will be a mess at the shop.

Can I just say how much I looooove getting pictures and messages telling me how much they love their knitting and new challenges. Joi is making the beautiful Snowy River sweater with dLana Rustica, and she’s doing an incredible job. I can hardly wait to see this on her. Can I also say that seeing this is NOT helping my startitis problem ... What are you challenging yourself with?
