On this day five years ago we said our goodbyes to our Old Man River. For years dad fought the illnesses he sustained from the war. He taught his kids and grandchildren about camping and how fun and relaxing being in the outdoors could be. His legacy will forever live on in our hearts and here at the retreat.

We are super excited to reveal the Old Man River Tipi for our guests. This is a big step for us and finally allows us to have something for our guests to stay in. Here is a tipi made by the same company, ours will be similar to this. These are the same tipi's featured in Dances with Wolves movie. It is a Sioux style that is 22' at the base. It's a glamping model that has critter and mosquito guards, so need not worry about the critters ... We received the 20 - 27' poles today and should be receiving the painted canvas cover in a few weeks. We are clearing the grounds now and are going to build a wood deck in our pine forest area by the lake to place it on.

In the midst of a pandemic and separation of political views, let’s remember the men and women who were able to make our freedom and rights possible. Thank you to all the veterans who have served and whom are currently serving.

This is a heart wrenching message from a First Sergeant who just attended a Marine’s funeral that took his own life. Please reach out to your family, friends or brothers/sisters in arms. The world is not better without you and you are not alone, please seek help. There is a void that cannot be filled by your absence; someone cares, loves and needs you in their life. Please reach out, we are here for you and so are others, we have your 6.
