FACT: We ALL need to watch our daily consumption of salt. Ideally we should not have more than 1,500 mg of sodium each day. Most Americans consume too much salt through processed and packaged foods. Try buying low sodium foods and using herbs and spices to season your food!

MEET JIMMY! Food Rescue driver, Jimmy has been faithfully serving NourishKC for 11 years. He works six days a week lifting hundreds of pounds of food, transporting between two local Whole Foods stores and other businesses to neighborhood pantries and emergency kitchens. FACT: Sugar is actually in most foods we eat, especially the processed foods. It’s in our ketchup, dressings, nut butters, and non-dairy milks! The American Heart Association says the max amount of sugar we should consume in a day is 25 grams. Check the labels of your foods, it may be hard to understand names of ingredients that can be disguised for sugar, but see how many grams of sugar you’re consuming! It could shock you. Try buying unsweetened versions of foods to cut back!
