The above term maternochronics is offered in an attempt to create space for a conversation about maternal time and the accumulation of stress. Using a birth ball during labor is not only super comfortable, but in the hospital can be an alternative to standing next to or being in the bed while being monitored. Sit on the ball next to the monitors and lean over the bed with pillows to rest in between contractions. Adjust the height of the bed as needed. Remember, it's the staff's job to adjust monitors as needed to accommodate you.
