Nodaway County Health Department 03.07.2021

Josh the Otter and our Health Educator, Suzanne, had a great visit with our friends at the Maryville Public Library, Maryville, MO story hour on Tuesday! Josh taught the kids how to float, reminded everyone to make sure we always have a swimming buddy, and to always have an adult near us when we are in any water. Stay safe around water, friends!

Jordan and Pippen. Bert and Ernie. Batman and Robin. Fred and Ginger. The first dose of your mRNA vaccine for COVID-19, and your second dose of the same. Some duos are iconic like that. More COVID-19 resources: jhsph.edu/covid-19... Nodaway County Health Departments wants to remind you of the importance of getting your second COVID-19 vaccine. It is critical to finish your series in order to get the most immunity. If you are needing to get signed up for a vaccine check with your local pharmacies, healthcare provider, or Nodaway County Health Dept. #stayhealthy #wecandothistogether

Nodaway County Health Department wants to remind you about the importance of being extra vigilant about checking your car before walking away from it. Not only can children be accidently left in hot vehicles during the summer, they can also get into them on their own. The forecast predicts hot weather this week, so be sure to lock ALL car doors, and put the keys out of reach of little hands. #heatstrokekills #lookbeforeyoulock

Kiddos (and parents) of Nodaway County be on a look out for Josh the Otter! Word on the street is that he is making his way around our community to promote water safety! Stay tuned to our Nodaway County Health Department Facebook page to keep up-to-date on his whereabouts. Be our #OtterSpotters. *Josh The Otter is a character who was created a little over 10 years ago in 2008. The creators hope that Josh is a great role model for children to learn the importance of water safety. Through his messaging of always getting an adult when going around water, always swimming with a buddy, learning to float, and being excited about learning to swim, children will learn to be safer in and around water. Josh can't wait to see you! #OtterSpotters
