TEN THINGS YOU MISS BY NOT ATTENDING CHURCH: 1. You miss out on obedience to the command to not give up meeting together (Hebrews 10:24-25). 2. You miss out on hearing God's Word faithfully proclaimed, thus growing in faith (2 Timothy 4:1-2; Romans 10:17).... 3. You miss out on encouraging others, stirring them towards love and good works, and receiving encouragement from others (:1-6). Hebrews 10:25). 4. You miss out on being built up by others faithfully using their gifts (1 Peter 4:10-11; Ephesians 4:11-14). 5. You miss out on receiving the blessing and instruction of corporate prayer (1 Timothy 2:1-2; Acts 6). 6. You miss out on corporately singing songs of praise to God (Colossians 3:16). 7. You miss out on celebrating the gospel through baptism (Romans 6:4). 8. You miss out on delighting God as His gathered people (Zephaniah 3:17; Psalms 149:4). 9. You miss out on hearing God's Word applied specifically to you, your culture, and community (1 Corinthians 2:5; 2 Timothy 4:1-2). 10. You miss out on uniting across barriers of race and economic status to stand united in the gospel and make friends of those you wouldn't ordinarily know (Ephesians 2:11-12; 4:3; James 2:1; Revelation 5:9).

EYES ON THE PRIZE / Living for Eternity For the non-Christian death is a destroyer. But for the Christian death is a door. For the non-Christian death is a deceiver. But for the Christian death is a deliverance. Freed from the body's earthbound limitations, the transported Christian enters a realm where there are no limits. Christians, when confronted with death, smile through their tears. Why? Because they know that the angel of death does not get the last word; death--t...hough a vicious enemy--does not win this final battle. Christians face the raw, coarse realities of death, feeling all its chilling challenges, and arrive safe and unscathed in a land of eternal bliss. Scripture says, "The path of the just is like the shining sun, that shines ever brighter unto the perfect day" (Proverbs 4:18). The Christian knows that death ushers him immediately into the secure presence of Jesus. And the believer longs for and anticipates this homegoing. | In times like these, we need to emphasize not only salvation's temporal benefits, but its eternal benefits, as well. ~Missionary David Shibley

From Missionary David Shibley: I'm writing this just a few days prior to the election. Of course, I'm earnestly praying for God's will to be accomplished. We all sense that the outcome of this election will have enormous repercussions. If you haven't yet voted, please care enough for your country to do so. Remember when you cast your vote, you're not only voting for a person, you're voting for the implementing of one vision for America and not the other. I know there are some... notable Christian leaders who are urging believers to sit out this election. I understand and respect their argument. But I thoroughly disagree with it. This is no time - and this is no election - for arrogance. Let's walk humbly before the Lord and others. At the same time, let's be boldly winsome in sharing the gospel. Let's take the high road, speaking peace, living peaceably, being instrument of His peace. And by the way, Scripture is clear that we are to pray for those who are in authority (1 Timothy 2:1-4). There are no "qualifiers" to this admonition. Remember, Paul was calling on Timothy and other believers to pray for Roman officials who were vehemently opposed to the gospel. So for us, this means we're to be praying now for the President. It also means that, post-election, we will pray for the man who will occupy the Oval Office for the next four years, whether it is the current President or the former Vice-President. May God have mercy on our nation, grant us repentance and revival, and heal our land. See more
