Today's the day...Join us at 2 pm Pet Therapy of the Ozarks (PTO) has teamed up with Burrell Behavioral Health and Show-Me Hope to bring Zoom-based virtual pet ...therapy to southwest Missouri seniors served by SeniorAge. It’s almost like having an adorable dog to love on in your home. After greetings and introductions, PTO members on the Zoom call show off their dogs which are their own personal pets and talk about them. You will learn all about how the PTO members got their dogs, what kind of dogs they are, whether they are rescue dogs, etc. The PTO folks are happy to take questions. Some of the dogs are trained to do more than pet therapy. They also do tricks! So, you can expect a tricks show or two. Missouri SMP issues Covid-19 scam alert about suspicious email survey The Missouri SMP (Senior Medicare Patrol) is warning older adults to be aware of a new COV...ID-19 vaccine email scam. A suspicious email asks people to complete a survey and to receive a free reward in exchange for a nominal fee to cover shipping. Survey scams such as this are a creative way to steal a consumer’s identity or money. Many survey scams offer a reward and give folks a limited time to respond if they want to take the survey. A legitimate survey would not assign a time limit, nor would it ask for a credit card or bank account to pay for a reward. Scammers know people have received vaccines and are capitalizing on it. The SMP advises consumers not to give out personal or financial information. Fake surveys can be used to steal personal information; collect data about someone to commit identity theft; or to install malware on a computer when the user clicks on a link in the email. Anyone who has responded to this or a similar vaccine survey email should call the Missouri SMP at 1-888-515-6565.

It's no secret.... The South Central Pension Rights Project (SCPRP) is overseen by Texas Legal Services with assistance from the Missouri Area Agencies on Aging.... Since teaming with Missouri Area Agencies on Aging in 2010, SCPRP has recovered more than $4.3 million in benefits for Missourians and has assisted more than 550 Missourians with retirement benefit issues. SCPRP is funded by the U.S. Administration on Aging to assist individuals in Missouri, Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Arkansas who have any kind of issue with their retirement benefits. It operates in cooperation with Legal Services of Eastern Missouri. SCPRP provides attorneys and legal assistants that offer basic advice about pension laws and rights, help people locate their pension plan’s administrator, advocate for people who believe they have been unjustly denied their benefits, and provide referrals to other services as needed.
