Help say hello to New Leaf's new counselor, Mr. Isaac Crawford, MS, PLPC ! He is currently taking new clients that are able to self-pay. Check him out ! Hello! I began my college education with a Bachelor’s in Electronic Arts at Missouri State University because music and art have always been a huge part of my life. Art for me was an inner journey, and I found that what I wanted to do for a career is to connect with others who are on their own inner journey. I continued ...my education and received a Master’s in School Counseling at Evangel University. I then provided school counseling and guidance services for seven years, mostly at an urban high school in Springfield, Missouri, where I worked closely with the English Language Learner population. In 2020, I began working at Lakeland Behavioral Health with parents and families experiencing a mental health crisis, doing intake assessments in-person and by phone. In 2021, I began counseling in private practice under the supervision of Keith Wilson at New Leaf Counseling. I work primarily with 14 year-olds and older, doing mostly individual therapy with an emphasis in depression, anxiety, trauma, and relationship issues. See more

Give this a listen. This was composed after a session by a client...helping to put music to what it sounds like to live with a bi polar disorder. (Follow the link. Great artist. It’s a pen name so HIPPA integrity remains !) https://soundcloud.app.goo.gl/HYWsmuyeo37q3adH9

Hi all. I just wanted to give a thanks to all my clients , friends , and peers that have sent out good vibes and have been patient with me as my lower lumbar injury continues to heal. It’s been 3 weeks and I know all of 2020 has been a struggle. Scheduling with New Leaf has been tricky in the last month. I learn just as much from my clients as some may learn from their time in my office. I’m healing nicely and by Monday I will be back in the office full time helping clients in the best way I can. I don’t want to forget anyone that I need to get back to so please feel free to msg or e mail me if you need too.

The first book set has arrived in a classroom! Mr. Vega posted this update that he wanted us to share: Thanks to a GENEROUS donation, this fall Mr. Vega’s 9th grade GHS English class will be reading Born A Crime! Trevor Noah’s account of growing up in apartheid South Africa is an inspiring story that will raise cultural consciousness when we all need it most!

I call this the emotional torment pillow . One would lay this pillow down , place it under the recommended part of one’s body and extend oneself over it, face up with thighs, shoulders, and head placed firmly on the ground. This , in-turn , would help place the S curve back into one’s spine....which seems to be part of my disc and sciatica problems. The torment pillow is somewhat very painful...ridged , and makes one feel as though they are walking the edge of a suspende...d edge while a pitchfork is forced into the back. Since I have several clients that have chronic pain I am reminded of what their journey must be like. Speaking as a therapist, I can say clients don’t know a lot about our personal lives. That’s built into therapy for a reasonbut sometimes we broach it...when it ethically occurs to us it may help. Sometimes it’s good to allow our clients to see us, too as people just like they are when they step into our offices . So I’m breaking the third wall of therapy and posting this as a little hello to all my clients I’ve missed growing with over the past two weeks. Sometimes when our clients know we are human; traveling with them it allows us all to trust one another more. The torment pain pillow captures the physical state my body is in right now. This reminds me of how strong all of my clients are. The little, totally kick butt awesome octopus would probably be the aviator of my personal home. Beckett, my dog , would be the mascot. This blue guy here would be the aviator or icon of the house. The cutting board represents my love of cooking, which I often try to reframe as self care to clients, and the little pot and plant in the background represents my love of plants and gardening which I often try to reframe as positive grounding for the here-and-now. I hope everyone is well and thanks to all for the great, kind thoughts and good vibes you guys are sending out ! I’m hoping to back be to session within the next 4 days !
