How to apply: Applications for the Housing Authority of the City of Neosho are available for pick-up at our office at 321 S. Hamilton St. Neosho, Missouri 64850. We can also mail applications out if you are not able to come in and pick one up. All applications that are returned back into us must be accompanied by a photo ID and a social security card for all members who will be living in the household. After initial application, an applicant is placed on the waitlist according to their application date, time, and preference. The average wait for Public Housing Authority assistance is 6 months to 2 years. Once selected from the wait list, the NHA will request the applicant provide any necessary documents needed to determine eligibility and suitability. Once all information is complied and applicant is determined suitable, a housing authority representative will contact the family in order to make an appointment to view a unit. Once an applicant accepts the housing offer, a lease agreement will be executed. The NHA representative will review the lease with you and collect a security deposit, which must be paid before the keys to the apartment are giving to the applicant. Your monthly rent will be based on 30% of the household’s adjusted income. All rent is calculated in accordance with HUD regulations. Allowable deductions are also taken into consideration. A re-examination is done every year on the applicant’s anniversary of the first lease signed to recalculate their rent for that year. The Neosho Housing Authority is an independent agency that maintains 49 Apartments for seniors & the disabled at the Oaks apartments, and 30 family units at The Summit View location. These units are affordable housing for elderly, disabled & families. We do allow small cats and dogs with a pet deposit as long as they are potty trained and spay/neutered.
