Daniel K. Wooten became the new managing partner of Neale & Newman, L.L.P., on January 1. Wooten joined Neale & Newman in 1996 and became a partner in 2002. Wooten will succeed Paul G. White, who has been the firm’s managing partner since 2002. White will remain a partner in the firm.

Congratulations to Rick Schnake on being named a 2020 Super Lawyer in Appellate Practice! Rick is one of five Neale & Newman attorneys who earned the recognition this year. Schnake practices in the intellectual property areas of trademark and copyright registration and litigation. He is a 1979 graduate of (Southwest) Missouri State University and a 1982 graduate of Washington University School of Law. He has been named to Super Lawyers 13 times.

Congratulations to Judson Poppen on being named a 2020 Super Lawyer in the practice area of Business Litigation! Jud is one of five Neale & Newman attorneys who earned the recognition this year. Poppen, a 1998 graduate of the University of Northern Iowa and a 2001 graduate of the University of Iowa College of Law, also practices in the areas of family law, estate and trust litigation, and construction litigation. This is Jud's seventh Super Lawyers recognition.

Congratulations to Pat Platter on being named a 2020 Super Lawyer in the practice area of Workers' Compensation. Pat is one of five Neale & Newman attorneys who earned the recognition this year. Platter received his undergraduate degree from the University of Missouri in 1978 and his law degree from Mizzou in 1981. He also practices in the areas of administrative law and zoning and land use. He has been selected to Super Lawyers eleven straight years.

We are proud to welcome our newest associate, Lillian Sweeney. Lilly is a Springfield native. She graduated from the University of Missouri, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Art History in 2010 and her Juris Doctor from the University of Missouri Columbia School of Law in 2020. During law school, she served as a representative in the Student Bar Association, and on the boards of the Women’s Law Association, Tax and Transactional Society, Association of Intellectual Property and Entertainment Law, and Phi Alpha Delta legal fraternity.
