Promises of God for the overwhelmed Hebrews 4:3 These times are overwhelming. Have you watched the news this week? We have a new president in office. Our thoughts are from nervous to terrified. In one week thousands are laid off and our borders are opened up for anybody, those with Covid, and criminals. Plus our own personal problems, sickness, jobs, finances, family disunity and children and friends keep us away from God and the rapture is close. Our thoughts overwhelm us du...ring the day and keep us awake at night. God is calling us to prayer. He wants us to get ahold of his promises. We need to become prayer warriors for God. He says He has the answer since He built the foundation of the world. 2 Corinthians 1:20. (Read that in the NIV) Because of Christ and what he did on the cross we can say amen (so be it). Four things today about God's promises. There are many more. I. He promises rest for our souls. Matthew 11:28-30 When you feel overwhelmed, run to Him for rest. We can only find rest in him. In the last half of the first verse in the song "What A Friend We Have In Jesus", oh what peace we often forfeit. When all the storm is howling around you, go find Jesus and He will place you in the cleft of the rock. He alone is able to give you rest. Take his yoke upon you. II. He promises security and communion with Him 1 Corinthians 14:33 When you have peace you have security and there is no confusion. Washington D.C., news broadcasting, and the internet bring confusion and nervousness (overwhelmed) with no way out. God is not the author of confusion, but of peace. He calls you and I to live above our circumstances. Fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. Your faith must be in God. Hebrews 12:2 III. He promises a firm foundation - Psalms 61:1-4 David wrote this Psalm as he was running form Saul. Saying we trust God is there, but its so much harder to live it. When you are overwhelmed to the point there is no place to go, go to the rock. There you will find a firm foundation, a shelter, a strong tower and there you can abide in his presence. He will cover us with his wings. Just like a mother hen covers her chicks from the storm. When we come into his presence, let God do what He has power to do. It's like Carrie Underwood's song, "Jesus Take the Wheel". IV. He promise to make a way when there seems to be no way. Isaiah 43:1-3 HIs promise wherever you go, he is there and he will take you through. Fear not, I have called you by name: - Through the water, I'll be there - Through the river, it will not overflow - Through the fire - you won't even smell like smoke Why? Beause He is God, the holy one of Israel. Just ask the three hebrew boys! Are you stressed, overwhelmed, everything caving in around you? Stand on the promises of God, these and so many more that will carry you through.

What to do when you don't know what to do? Psalms 25:1-2 Someone once said, "when you're at the end of your rope, tie a knot and keep climbing." Don't give up and don't give in. As Christians, we face a lot of obstacles, detours, and disasters. Remember it ain't over 'til God says so.... You might be facing problems today and you don't know what to do. Maybe you have a child running rampant. Afraid that one night you'll get a phone call saying they are in jail or worse, they're dead. You are saying you don't know what to do. Remember, it ain't over until God says its over. In Psalms 25, David was at this position in his life, not knowing which way to go or what to do. Here he prays for defense, guidance, and pardon. In this chapter, he shows us what to do. I. Show me thy ways - Psalms 25:4 How does God show us his ways? A. Read the word. Open the Bible let God speak to you through his word. B. Spend time in prayer to learn Gods way. Abraham, Isaac, Moses, Joshua and the patriarchs spent time in prayer. God show me your way. Jesus in the garden. "Not my will but thine. II. Turn your eyes upon Him - Psalms 25:15 Stop looking at your problem and start looking at the answer, start looking up 2 Chronicle 20:12 Don't get caught up in fear, this political landscape can scare us. Don't look to Washington for answers. Look to Heaven from where cometh your help. I've read the back of the book. "we win" III. Trust in thee Psalms 25:19-22 We show our trust by praising him. Rev. As we praise him, we come into his presence Isaiah 57:15, Psalms 22:3, Psalms 149 Follow David's example.

God is Real VI Psalms 71:19 The old song, "God is Real" by Kenneth Morris, says God is real. I can feel him in my soul. I hope that is how real you feel him today. This message shows us the reality of God by his righteousness and our desire to live by his standards.... I. We must be righteous to stand before a righteous God. Romans 3:23 We have all sinned. We try to be righteous in ourselves by living good, but it does not work. Isaiah 64:6 When we stand before God, the only way to be righteous is as we are covered in the blood of Jesus Christ. He is our righteousness. He paid the price for your sin and mine. God's righteousness is absolute with no middle ground. II. God rules out of righteousness. Psalm 97:1-2 Going out from his throne is righteousness. If we are going to Heaven, we must be changed. Romans 3:23 Romans 6:23 Ephesians 4:22-24 says we are created a new person. 2 Corinthians 5:17 we are a new creation. We can stand before God because of Jesus. Psalm 5:12 God will bless us Psalm 71:18 Let me in old age show his righteousness.

God is Real V Ephesians 2:3-6 God's characteristics show Him and prove Him to be real. Love is one of the most important characteristics. Love says He is unconditionally committed to our well being. God is committed to loving you no matter where you are or what you have done, I. Love is a noun - I John 4:8-10... God is the very essence of love. God and love are the same. The definition of love is God. Romans 5:8 While we were yet sinners, CHrist died for us. Love took our place on the cross. Romans 8:37-39 Nothing can change His love. II. Love is a verb - John 3:16 Because He loved us, He sent His son to show just how much. The entire Bible hangs on this verse. Your eternity hangs on how God showed His love. - Ephesians 1:4 God's love demanded from the beginning of time His plan to send His son to die for your sins. God always has and always will love you. God is Love

Listen for the Rattle Ezek. 37:1-12 In 2020, the church sits as the valley of dry bones. There is no life in the church. We sit as a whole in silence. Many of the church people voted against God's word. We cannot go against God's word and expect to be blessed. There is one way to be blessed. Ps 33:12 I. It's time for the church to shake off the dust. Wake up and stand. We must do more than stand. Ps 8-12... Nothing major happened until God breathed on those bodies. We need the breath of God. The Holy Ghost is that breath need Zach 4:6 Listen for the rattle of the bones - church! II. The dead came alive when Jesue was close. John 11:20-44 Lazarus came forth when Jesus called a rattling of the bones and the breath of God. Lazarus came out. III. Jesus came alive after 3 days - Matthew 28:1-6 Very early that morning before breaking of the dawn. There was an earthquake. The bones of Jesus rattled, as the breath of God sent life back into the physical. The stone rolled away and Jesus came forth in power and might. That stone didn't roll away so He could come out, but so the disciples could go in and see, He indeed had risen. It's time for the church world wide to arise and with the holy Ghost go forth as a mighty army. Begin fasting and praying for a mighty move of God in Washington D.C. A fresh breath of God in the Senate, the House of Represenatives, and in the White House. God pour out your spirit on the streets, in the homes and the churches of our country. It's time for a fresh fire of God. Listen for the rattle of dry bones and feel the breath of God, as his Holy Ghost baptizes us in power, might, and strength. Listen for a living church!

God is Real IV 1 John 1:9-10 This morning looking at God's characteristics of mercy, His mercy reaches to us all I. Mercy begins with His forgiveness... God's very nature desires to relieve you of the misery and distress experience due to sin Romans 3:23 - all have sinned Romans 6:23 - the cost of sin is death 1 John 2:16 - all sin is included in lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes, and pride of life His mercy says I forgive because the price is paid on the cross. The full price of your sin II. Mercy is complete in the compassion of God Isaiah 49:13. We as God's children have reason to sing unto the Lord. He comforts us because of His mercy. When Jesus walked this earth, He had compassion on those He came in contact with; the widow of Nain - Luke 7:11-15 the blind Bartimaeus - Mark 10:46-52 women caught in adultry - John 8:5-11 Wherever you are, whatever sin you have committed, he has mercy on you. You are comforted and forgiven. God's mercy reaches to even you.

God is Real III Jeremiah 29:11-14 God is faithful to you and I today as He was in Jeremiah's day. God told Moses I am and He is still I am. Mal 3:6 He does not change. He is faithful.... I. Faithful to forgive our sin - I John 1:9 He will forgive you no matter what your sin is; whether you believe it or not. God says in 2 Tim 2:13, He is faithful. He will forgive you, He cannot deny himself. II. Faithful to bring you through - Phil 1:6 God's plan is for your good. He is faithful to his word. Holdfast to that word Heb 10:23 III. Faithful in the middle of affliction - Lam 3:22-23 In the captivity of Israel, God was faithful. His faithfulness reaches to wherever you are. He is faithful to you right there. Ps 36:5 IV. God deserves praise for His faithfulness - Ps 100 Promise Him because He will not change and He will meet your need. He is faithful to my your situation. Ps 119:90

God is Real II John 4:22-24 In 2020, God wants a personal relationship with you. He wants you to know Him and his character, who He is.... I. God is Sovereign - Jeremiah 32:17 He is the ruler of the Universe. There is no higher authority. I will joyfully submit to His will. He knows what He is doing. Job 12:10 II. God is Holy - Lev. 19:2 His holiness is what sets Him apart from His creation. Do not reflect the opinion and attitudes of this world, but reflect the beauty of His holiness . III. God is absolute truth - John 8:32 You can know God is real because He is truth. In a world of chaos, He does not change because He is truth. He can not lie. Rev 21:5 All He says is true. You can place your life in His hands. Don't despair, trust God. He is sovereign, holy and true.

Before Tuesday Pray and Fast for America Silence No More America is at a crossroads. It is time for the church to call out to God for his intervention and mercy.... 2 Chronicles 20:1-12 When Israel is in trouble, Jehosaphat called for a fast 2 Chronicles 7:13-15 This verse is real, we must call on God. If we do, he will hear and heal our land. Three enemy tactics Satan has used to destroy our nation and the church has kept silent. I. In 1963, took prayer out of schools. This was the beginning of moral failure in our country. Not a single christian organization filed a brief in support of prayer in school. Silence of the church in our nation. II. In 1973, Roe vs Wade The decision made abortions legal. Since then, over 53 million murders have taken place. Jeremiah 1:5 At the moment of conception, God has a plan because he has known that baby before they were formed in mothers belly. The church was silent. III. Enemy three, came in 2015 when US Supreme Court allowed same sex marriages. Leviticus 18:22, Romans 1:26-27 Because the church didn't want to get involved, we kept silent. These men and women need the love and prayer of the church; set free by the power of God. We must fast and pray for this election. 2 Chronicles 20:15 God is in control Jeremiah 2:12-13 Read our hearts for America - Fast, Pray, Vote!

You can help by packing a shoebox or contributing any way you can, so boys and girls around the world know God loves them and He has not forgotten them during this time of uncertainty. Children need great joy now more than ever. Most of all, they need the hope found only in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We anticipate a great Operation Christmas Child season as we prayerfully pack traditional boxes again this year. I will be sharing creative ideas in the coming weeks so we can help children around the world continue to be blessed with the Good News of Jesus Christ. From Arlene
