I wanted to give you an update on recent events at NBKC. It is with great sadness I have to announce the resignation of Rachel Schwepler and Makenna Smith. They served well and will be missed. They have chosen to go in another direction. Sarah and I will be here serving as normal. Mahan will continue to attend births until she welcomes her little man in September. For now, I will be handling your administrative/ billing questions and scheduling appointments 9-5 Monday through Friday at 816-535-0307. Please contact us with any concerns or questions through your Client Care portal unless it’s an emergency or labor, then call the NBKC emergency line 816-213-2629. In 2019, Kentucky and Hawaii both created laws to license Certified Professional Midwives. "70% of states give families more options for home birth maternity care providers. Illinois families have been asking for licensed home birth midwives for 40 years. "More than 2/3 of the US state legislatures allow access to CPMs for home birth. In the last 10 years, 11 states have passed laws licensing CPMs. "Mothers NEED solutions in Illinois, too! What a joy and privilege it is to call these women my friends! Comradery is the spirit of friendship and community in a group, like the comradery of soldiers at war who keep each other upbeat despite the difficulty of their circumstances. Who is a comrade? A close friend or a fellow soldier in other words, someone who comes to mind when you say, "We're in this together."
