**Meet N2N New Cook** My name is Joe Austin, Jr. I was raised in South K.C. but most of my adult life I lived in Seguim, Washington, where I built houses and installed 4 Seasons Sunrooms. After retiring in Sequim I lived in Prescott Valley, AZ.for a few years and returned to KCMO to attend L'ECOLE Culinary School to become a Chef. I attend Keystone UMC at 74th & Wornall, where a group of Chefs and volunteers created "Sooner than Later" for "at risk teenagers." We had 3 -12 ...week courses before COVID19 stopped us. The young adults were from Gillis Center and Pathways, which are both in the Cornerstones of Care Program. We taught them the fundamentals of cooking, proper handling of food, and how to get a job in the restaurant trade. When I lived here before, I had a crew of volunteers and we prepared weekly dinners at the Grace Cathedral Soup Kitchen. I help prepare Thanksgiving Dinners at our Church and also for the Disabled American Veterans. I volunteer cooking at the Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and The American Legion for special events. I cooked at Gillis Home 18 months until they closed the dorms and moved the children. I work a 12 Step Program and enjoy fishing and building things as well as cooking for people. Please send Joe some welcoming comments... Reminder: We re-open this coming Mon.for breakfast -9am-10:30am & lunch 11am -12:30. See more

**Special Praise for Tina-a N2N Alumni** "If you wanna make God laugh, tell him your plans" I bet 14+ years ago Tina didn't plan on working at the same detox.unit she was taken to. Who Knew? Pictured is Tina receiving the FoX4 Pay It Forward reward for the GoOD work she does for people in need. N2N is so happy for her! Send Tina some love through your comments. Then: Take a moment to read Proverbs 19:17

One of our men spent years on death-row. He voted today for the first time in his life. He was so elated, showing off his "I voted" sticker.

We are happy to say that the U Meth Ch of the Resurrection has been supporting us with in-kind donations: hygiene kits, face masks, lots of yummy Starbucks sandwiches, etc. Thank you!

Nearly a hundred miles from here is a small town called Smithton. In this town is Lake Creek U Methodist Church. Every year, Linda & Dan Page, from that church, drive over with a load of coats and other supplies. But mostly coats. This takes a lot of giving from Smithton. We love Dan & Linda. We love Lake Creek UMC. Thank you so much!

When NorthEastminster decided to get involved with us very early this year, they thought they would be providing hot meals. Their very first time got bumped by our closing for the pandemic. But they adjusted, and bring sack lunches twice a month, despite being a very small church. We are so grateful to them, and to their liaison Julie!

*Prayers are a powerful way to share Gods love* This lady came to us saying she's tired of drugs and street life. She goes to drug treatment Monday. After Ruth & Rosie prayed with her she told me thanks with tears in her eyes. Praise God for the N2N teamwork. ************************************* Romans 15:2 Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, to build him up.

Imagine having a son & daughter caught in the trap of drug addiction. The son gets sober and the daughter that's still using happens to see the brother she hasn't seen for months. Here's what a 5 min. reunion hug of love and hope looks like. Their mom was here to witness this emotional event. This is the work that God has appointed N2N to accomplish. Somebody say.....

* SPOTLIGHT ON GOD'S LOVE & MERCY * Alcohol and other drugs was my escape from reality that left me spiritually bankrupt for over 50 years. Homeless, living in abandoned houses, arrested 97 times and I couldn't see hope for a purposeful future. I walked and talked but I was dead. I went to my fourth and final drug treatment center after having a alcohol seizure Oct.5, 1994. In 1995 while thinking of all the hurt and pain I caused my family in addition to the sins I commited, ...God entered my heart without me asking. I felt that Holy Spirit I had heard about. I laughed, I cried and felt forgiveness but it was time to clear up the wreckage of my past so I could forgive myself. God whispered turn yourself in for your 24 arrest warrants. I said hold on, I just met you. God whispered again, go ahead and I'll be with you! It took a year of court for all 24 warrants but God dismissed them one by one. HE sent me back to the church that helped me when I was homeless to help others find HIM. Thank you lord for allowing me to reunite with my children, my entire family and help over 2,700 people into treatment along the way. It was and is your Love and Mercy that blessed me with (*26*) years of sobriety today! I also thank my accountability partners and recovery fellowships. Please Google Psalms 19:17 then donate to help us save lives at - The GoFundMe page that has been set up for us. https://www.gofundme.com/f/1s8wpl1sg0 Or..
