There's been a lot of talk about cicadas in the news recently. But if you live in Missouri, don't worry about the noisy insects keeping you up at night. The nex...t brood to emerge in Missouri won't appear until 2024, according to a MU Extension horticulturist. While Missourians may seem some stragglers from other states, it's the eastern states that will experience the massive swarms this year. These periodical cicadas emerge every 13 to 17 year in late May to early July and are loud but mostly harmless. Learn more about periodical cicadas. http://ow.ly/RkF650EOv98 See more

#MO4H is proud to continue its partnership with Feeding Missouri and Missouri Farmers Care Drive to Feed Kids in our 3rd Annual Statewide food drive! To date, ...efforts have raised over 400,000 meals to feed Missourians! This year the drive will run January through April to allow plenty of time for clubs to plan and carry out their activities. The goal for 2021 is to raise 500,000 meals. Through local food drives, fundraisers and educational events and presentations, 4-H’ers will learn about, and help raise awareness about hunger and food insecurity in Missouri, where one in five children belong to families that struggle to put enough food on the table. The need is even greater this year with the economic effect from COVID-19. New this year, through a generous donation from Missouri Farmers Care, 4-H Clubs can apply for matching mini-grants. These matching grants will help clubs further their local efforts during the drive. You can donate to this effort now by texting 4HFM2021 to 44-321. For more information about the campaign, matching mini-grants, and how to get involved, visit https://extension.missouri.edu/programs/missouri-4-h and click on 4-H Feeding Missouri button. #4HFeedingMO #DriveToFeedKids #ExtendMU
