Muddy Creek Kennel GSP

I was working dogs this morning and have a little gal name of "Georgia" I started a week or so ago. I talked to the owner the other day and told her the dog was a heck of a nice little dog and we were shooting birds for her. She acted like she thought I was pulling her leg! But anyhow we are. She is six months old, not been started, hasn't seen a bird and had never been shot around. I didn't ask where she came from or who bred her but wherever she came from they are doing a good job! I would take a 100 just like her.

We had our Muddy Creek BDC get-to-gether fun, fun Trial last Saturday. Went great except for it rained all day! Wasn't cold tho, most of the birds flew just fine, the biscuits and gravy was good biscuits and gravy. We actually had a good trial and dog work. There were somebody shooting geese at a lake in the next section so there was some shooting going on! Good to hear shooting. We got to have a Chevy vs Ford get unstuck competition. Daniel buried a skid steer working on the... kennel lagoon up to the wind shield wipers. Two Fords, a Chevy and two different tractors later the local wrecker buddy of Daniel came and drug it out. Plenty of mud to go around, and nobody missed out on any. Oh well all in a day. Bob Meany from Minnesota and Josh Warstler took a great first with 250 points. Wyatt and Garth took second with a 240. Biff and Benna putting on a nice run. Me and Daniel ran Carl's dogs for him because he has another torn rotor cuff. We took third with a good clean run with ol Casey and Carl's new dog Raising Cane. We are looking forward to a good Trial Saturday! The weather is saying rain, but then the weather forecast is a whole lot like these democrats....you have to let whatever they say go in one ear and out the other and just hope for the best!

We still have a opening or two for the upcoming Saturday, January 30th. Muddy Creek Kennel BDC Team Trial. We are going to shoot chukar, and hope its not everything froze harder than a brick cold! Looking forward it.

I have been looking at this dog thinking I might keep her back to raise some bird dog puppies out of her and a dog I have by the name of Rocky. She is Muddy Creek Max Peak x Muddy Creek Shellshocked Dolly. Everyone always wants to know how I decide to keep a dog to breed with. What I consider a breeding quality dog is what the dog is naturally. Full of point, and long nose. I want to see a good aggressive retrieve. Sound temperament, dark eyes, strait legs, smart. Then I just decide one day... I think I'll keep that dog. The real decider is if I think the dog is sure enough bird dog. Lots of science backing my breeding program!

Everyone had a good time shooting chukar at our last Team Trial, and we thought we would go ahead and schedule another chukar shoot for the last Saturday of this month. That will be Saturday January the 30th. A team trial is two shooters, four shells each, one or two dogs, either shooter can shoot. Multiple birds flushed can be shot and count as retrieves. Either dog can point, either dog can back, and either dog can retrieve. One dog can be collared after established point o...r back. Dog can be "whoad" to point or back. 10 points for the find, 10 points for the retrieve, and 5 points for a back up to five backs. Perfect score without multiple retrieves is 125. Bird to hand on fifth find or thirty minutes, which ever comes first. Time remaining for tie breaker. We plant six birds for the first brace and five each brace after. Breakfast and lunch provided, coffee and pop no charge. Draw early as possible, and finish when we finish. Come early 8:00 or so. If you need a partner there will be someone happy to partner with you. Youth are encouraged and welcome to shoot with a responsible partner. No license of any kind required, all participants are covered by the trial permit. Looking forward to a good trial and hope for nice weather! See more
