CDT Blake Rief, a Sophomore in The Bear Battlion, is pursuing his major in Criminology and minor in Military Science at Missouri State. He is the Battalion AS5 ...this semester, a Leader in Scabbard & Blade Committee, and part of our Ranger Challenge Team. As Assistant to the Public Affairs Officer, CDT Rief is responsible for editing, capturing, or posting a majority of the pictures you have enjoyed on our page this semester! As The Bear Battalion S5, I would like to personally thank CDT Rief for all his hard work and dedication this year! It has been great working with him! Here are a few questions we asked CDT Rief: Why did you join ROTC? I joined ROTC because it’s been a dream of mine since I was a kid. I grew up with stories of my grandfather’s military service, during the Korean War. Most valuable lesson you've learned going through ROTC? I have learned that I am much more physically capable than what I think I am. By pushing myself during PT and Ranger Challenge, I understand it is essentially a mental game. I have also learned proper time management and Leadership, by being a follower first. As an MS1, we learned the various jobs that make up a platoon and how each Soldier contributes to the success of the organization. How do you believe these lessons will impact your career? I believe the lessons I have and will learn in ROTC will greatly impact my future career. It will provide me with the proper skills and insight to be an educated and strong Leader for my future Soldiers, in any branch that I am assigned. #goarmy #3rdbdearmyrotc #inourboots #armyrotc #gomaroon #missouristateuniversity #missouristate #evangeluniversity #druryuniversity #sbuvin #myotc #changemaker GoArmy 3rd ROTC Brigade, The Black Hawk Brigade U.S. Army Cadet Command (ROTC) Missouri State University Evangel University Evangel University Athletics Drury University Drury University Athletics Southwest Baptist University Ozarks Technical Community College Central High School Parkview High Hillcrest High School - SPS Kickapoo High School Springfield Catholic Schools; Springfield Mo
