Mr. Computer

Good Day! So. You're on a website and a pop-up window appears with a message saying you need to update Java or Flash or Adobe reader, or the like. What do you do????? Don't click on the window. Don't click on the OK or Cancel options. Close your browser and - if need be - do a Ctrl-Alt-Del or otherwise access Task Manager and kill your browser (IE, Safari, Chrome, etc.). ... Why? Because these web popups for "updates" is the method most commonly used to install unwanted malware-like programs such as Search Conduit (and the 10 or 12 other programs and tool bars that come with it) on your PC. (These programs break IE 11) Legitimate Java and Adobe updates will typically be announced by an icon down in your system tray. And remember, you always have the option of going to the actual Java or Adobe websites and updating manually. Still not sure what to do? Call us. We'd much rather have you NOT get malware, scareware, ransomware or viruses on your PC. A simple phone call can save the day (and a number of dollars). While you're at it - ask about semi-annual or quarterly check-ups for your PCs. We offer discounted rates for pre-paid scheduled service. jbw
