Positive COVID-19 case and Mountain View locations are part of tracking for potential exposures For Immediate Release Chris Gilliam... Two public health agencies, Howell County Health Department & Texas County Health Department are conducting a joint disease investigation and follow up after a positive COVID-19 Case has been identified with connections to both counties. Both agencies will continue to diligently monitor the COVID-19 situation and help protect the public health of the community. The patient, a resident of southern Texas County has been notified they tested positive for Covid19. The Texas County public health nurse disease investigation has identified the locations of businesses visited within 48 hours of symptoms are all located within Howell County. This patient’s identity will remain confidential, and no further personal information will be released. At this time their symptoms do not require hospital care, and they are following all public health guidance for designated time of home isolation, resolution of symptoms. The public health nurses have notified the close contacts of the patient to ensure they are monitoring for symptoms and following public health guidance to contain the spread. People visiting locations during the dates/times below are at LOW risk for contracting COVID-19, but should monitor themselves for symptoms. There is no need to self-quarantine or isolation unless you have symptoms develop. Anyone who develops symptoms of COVID-19 should contact their healthcare provider regarding testing and take all necessary precautions to avoid exposing others. Locations: Friday, May 22nd Signal Station, Mountain View approximately 4:00 am 2:30 pm; 5:00 pm 7:00 pm Saturday May 23rd Porters Flower Shop, Mountain View approximately 12 noon 1:00 pm Sunday, May 24th Walmart, West Plains approximately 11:30 am-12 noon Monday, May 25th Signal Station, Mountain View approximately 4 am 10 am Tuesday, May 26th Signal Station, Mountain View approximately 2 am 12 noon It is important that each and every one of us continue to practice basic preventative measures to help decrease the spread of illness. These measures include: avoiding contact with people who are sick, covering coughs and sneezes, proper hand-washing, cleaning frequently used surfaces, mask while out in public and staying home when sick.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Mercy St. Francis Hospital Serves COVID-19 Positive Patient MOUNTAIN VIEW, Mo. (March 26, 2020) The Carter County Health Department has confirmed the first positive case of COVID-19 for Carter County.... The patient was brought by EMS to Mercy St. Francis Hospital, where our co-workers followed the appropriate CDC protocols when the patient arrived to eliminate any risk of exposure to co-workers and patients. All co-workers who interacted with the patient or cleaned the patient treatment area have been notified and are not subject to quarantine. No other visitors, patients or co-workers encountered the patient. Mercy St. Francis Hospital continues to be here to serve our patients as we have been since 1956, said Cindy Weatherford, administrator of Mercy St. Francis Hospital. Our doors continue to be open for you and your medical needs, and it’s a privilege to serve our community during this pandemic. Please keep in mind that during this unprecedented time, Mercy St. Francis Hospital has put limitations in place regarding visitors. Those are designed to protect our patients, the community and our co-workers.

Hello, this is Dr. Christensen, Superintendent of the Mountain View-Birch Tree School District. I’m calling to inform parents and staff that after consultation... with state and county health department officials, we have decided to close our district schools through April 3. We hope to resume school on April 6. Starting next Monday, March 23, the school district will begin providing free meals to anyone 18 years and younger living in our school district. Those meals can be picked up on Monday morning from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. and on Wednesday from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. On Monday, each food bag will contain four mealsbreakfast and lunch for two days. On Wednesday, each food bag will contain six mealsbreakfast and lunch for three days. Starting on Monday, March 30, grade-level curriculum packets can be picked up at every school (both elementary schools as well as the middle school and high school) from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. In addition to the hard copy curriculum packets, we are currently posting educational resource sites to our school’s website. Eventually, the grade level and subject area curriculum packets will be scanned and available to be downloaded from our district’s website.
