World Breatfeeding Week: Our Mission

The pediatrician said that she was fine because she could stick her tongue out. But I just knew something was wrong. I hear this time and time again from mothers of tongue tied babies. Deep down they know somethings not right, but their providers tell them there’s no problem. After an assessment of this baby, I found right away she had a posterior tongue tie. The back part of the tongue was restricted and didn’t allow for proper function of the mouth. So she struggled to ...latch the breast and bottle, had hiccups and reflux, and wasn’t gaining weight. The mom was having pain with nursing, felt like she was failing her baby because she just couldn’t transfer the milk. A quick laser procedure and first latch was pain free!
