You’re wired for struggle, you do this! The collective struggle right now is intense. It seems everyone is suffering. Breathe, friend. ... Remind yourself you can do hard things. Remind your loved ones they can too. We won’t always have to do hard things, though it seems that way sometimes. Hang in there!
Hint: we’re most often in the past wounds! Our brains are wired that way, we can’t help it. However, without acknowledging this and working to be more present in the now, we stay in old defensive patterns even though they aren’t serving us! Pay attention, you’ll be surprised how often you’re not in the present.
Ticket sales are live for our Polyvagal + Enneagram: Advanced Course! Join us for this four hour virtual course as we dive deeper into the Enneagram and the Polyvagal Theory, and discuss how these theories can be used in conjunction with each other. We will discuss the instinctual variants (subtypes), the counter-types, and the childhood wounds for each Enneagram number. We will discuss how to create a Polyvagal map for yourself and others, how to increase vagal tone, and ...using the vagal brake. See link for more information! https://www.eventbrite.com/e/polyvagal-theory-enneagram-adv
The mission right now is to simply survive. Now may not be the time to reinvent yourself, find your passion, or heal. It may not be a time in which you can feel happy. ... That time will come again. Perhaps now we are meant to simply exist, and we are not alone in that. We’re all barely hanging in there. We can do hard things, we’ve got this.
It’s Enneagram + Polyvagal training week! We’ll be offering this training virtually for the first time on Friday We will offer the first half, a three hour primer on both the Enneagram and the Polyvagal Theory, and discuss how we layer the two theories together in our clinical work. In the second half (on 7/31) we discuss each type and the unique nervous system responses for each. ... This is also the prep for the advanced training course we’re working on! We’re preparing to dive even deeper in to both theories this fall. It’s a follow up to this course so don’t miss this opportunity! https://www.eventbrite.com/e/polyvagal-theory-enneagram-how Michael Shahan - LMFT Caylen Sunderman, M.S., LMFT
There is no doubt you’ve been hurt, and there likely IS someone to blame. We hurt each other in relationships, we just do. It’s what happens when two humans care about each other, and it’s often unintentional. As Mark Manson says, fault is a past-tense focus. Because it involves no accountability for the blamer, the blamer is stuck in powerlessness and victimhood. There is little growth within a fault mindset. ... Taking responsibility for your injuries is a present and future momentum. We heal and grow when we take responsibility for ourselves and our lives, and that can begin at any moment. When you face the hard things, and you heal and grow without any help from those who injured you, you take your power back. You become resilient, emotionally flexible, and clear on who you are to the core, and no one can take that from you. You step in to your personal brand of bad-assness!
Fresh take on a classic meme! Enjoy! . . .... . . And yes, Enneagram 1s, I left the grammatical error on purpose. I'm too lazy to go back and change it. And I know it'll rile y'all up. #therapymemes #kctherapy#psychotherapymemes#enneagrammemes #enneagram#therapistsofinstagram #enneagram1#enneagram2 #enneagram3#enneagram4 #enneagram5#enneagram6 #enneagram7#enneagram8 #enneagram
It’s here! The second Polyvagal+Enneagram training opportunity This is the same training we offered earlier this year, and we had many requests to offer this again so here we go!... We had to cancel our in-person event due to COVID, but we are offering this training online in July. We’ll be live-streaming this training from our offices, and we hope you’ll join us! We will do this in two 3-hour segments as we know that sitting in front of a computer for 6 hours straight will be tough. If you sign up, you are signed up for both sessions. You will receive the recorded training if you can’t make it for one of the scheduled sessions, so don’t worry if both dates don’t work. Michael Shahan - LMFT Caylen Sunderman, M.S., LMFT
What are you changing? Perhaps a better question is this: What is preventing you from changing? What are you so afraid of? ... To change is to be human. Use that big beautiful brain to self-scrutinize, ask yourself the difficult questions, get outside your comfort zone, and evolve.
This is a great Enneagram post created by our in-house Enneagram expert Michael Shahan!
It’s time to ask yourself, what prevents me from acknowledging the suffering of others? It’s often fear and a scarcity mindset. You don’t lose anything by acknowledging the pain of others except judgement and prejudice. It seems to me that it’s a good thing.
You have what you need, you’re more equipped than you realize! What if you could believe that today? Imagine how would your day be different if you knew your worth wasn’t in question!... You are enough and you’ll be enough no matter what happens today, tomorrow, and beyond.
