Enjoying the beautiful park today... you should visit

It's going to be a steamy 45 degrees on Saturday...you should take a walk in Moscow Mills - Mill Park ! Take note, the park will be changing come spring! Compliments of Cheryl Spore's many hours of planting!!

Our little town of approximately 3500 people was once home to two railroads, the only town in Lincoln County that could boast such fame. The Burlington C.B and Q. which carried many from towns all around to the St Louis World’s Fair and the St Louis Hannibal and Keokuk, or short line as it was affectionately called. The later was once owned by Ringling properties, the same Ringling of the well-known Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus. The short line ran past a wate...r mill along the banks of the Cuivre River hence the mills in the name Moscow Mills. Our only park is home to the remnants of the newer mill built on the site around 1900. Hand hewn beams that once supported the weight of the mill were lovingly pulled out he Cuivre River and re-purposed as the benches and table base for the pavilions picnic table. The short line tracks have long since been removed but a walking path through the woods remains. The path ends at the edge of an old iron wagon bridge build in the 1890’s. The park is only about 5 acres but is quite unique because of these features. There are BBQ’s and the beautiful Cuivre River to enjoy.
