Here’s another Hooker Harness tech tip! On this episode we review the servicing of the ratchet mechanism on our auto racing belts. Please remember that it is ...never recommended to power wash your belts and that it is always recommended to cover the ratchet to keep it as dry as possible. After washing the vehicle remove the cover. Watch the video for great servicing tips to keep everything functioning properly. These steps can be taken without removing the belts from the car. Beginning 2020 the MTRA will implement two levels of Tech Inspector status. Applicants who attend the Tech School and meet specific requirements will be considered for a position as Tech Inspector. This will allow this individual to conduct pre-competition inspections at events and provide assessments in preparation for vehicle certification. Tech Inspectors with seniority and exemplary qualification will then be allowed to apply for inspector certification. To ensure th...e quality and integrity of the inspection process only Certified Tech Inspectors will be allowed to grant vehicle certifications. The MTRA is developing two stages of testing to correspond with the application for each inspector status. Applicants for Tech Inspector will be required to pass a written open-book test. Applicants for Certified Tech Inspector will be required to pass either a hands-on or more stringent photographic based test. As stated these changes are being implemented to improve upon the quality of the inspection process and ensure that vehicles meet all MTRA standards for certification.
