I put brakes on a 1999 dodge today. The work it self was fine but I ran into a problem with the new pads. I'm not going to name anyone openly. The pads I bought were manufactured .050 inch to thick. This may not had been a problem except for I was also installing new rotor/hub assembly. So two brake manufacturers cut there pads the same. Yep TWO different brands same problem. I even went to the trouble of buying new calipers even though I really felt like the old ones were ...fine. They got returned also. Rotor thickness dead on. Calipers properly retracted. Called another parts house and asked them to measure there pads. She came back with almost .060 inch thinner pad. Yep they fit just right. NAPA got it right. Not actual picture of the work

I need feed back, want to toss an idea out and see what you all think. I'm thinking of having a community out reach inspection and education day. Something like this. Get the word out and have any and all interested bring there vehicles to be checked over by a professional mechanic. General condition and realistic recommendation. Also as part of this service I will teach folks how to do the most basic of automotive maintenance.... How to properly check fluids and change tires on there car. Thinking of contacting churches and community centers and I would like to reach the elderly community as well. I'm hoping that we can do a few of these this summer. So any suggestions? Questions? ideas? Please help us out here
