It's so common for children to unravel after a challenging day of "holding it together." This is called after-school restraint collapse. There are a lot of cha...llenges and expectations imposed on our children, especially in an academic setting. Amongst them: sitting still when their bodies want to move, academic challenges, social obstacles, and the stress from being away from home. When they see their safe person, they finally have an opportunity to fall apart and let it all go. Give them grace. Give them time. They need to know it's safe to fall apart with you.
