Milled a full truckload of hollow logs, Burls, and roots stored up from winter rescues. Got quite the supply now! Thank you Thomas Johnston for your sawyer skills
First show for Missouri Nature Art in about a year and a half today (Sat)! Looks like we have a great day for it. Hope to see you there!
First art show in over a year!
Be proud and support those local STL businesses all this week for 314! #STLmade #LoveLocalSTL
A nice little rescue from a local firewood pile! I can picture these partially hollow burled maple slabs making some nice table tops with a resin fill opportunity.
Wet weather can greatly benefit your nature photography! These water features were beautifully enhanced the morning after a good rain in SW Missouri, at Hickory Canyons Natural Area and Hawn State Park. I recommend bringing your tripod so you can use slow shutters. Also make sure to have some muck boots or take your water shoes and a towel for those stream crossings!
Some of my signature nature shape inlays in some custom walnut driftwood countertops I'm working on.
Some various custom Christmas presents I created this season. Happy Holidays to you and all of your loved ones!
Happy Thanksgiving! I've been working on a small Ozark hunting cabin remodeling project and these log lights, as I'm calling them, are just one small part of the project I'll highlight in this post. These red cedar log ends are attached as embellishments in an effort to make the cabin appear to have a timber frame structure (also matches the well house I created earlier), but also double as outdoor lighting. Waterproof LED lights are inset into the bottom of the logs and operate on a normal wall switch.
A great little rescue on a city avenue tree the other day. Beautiful Siberian Elm that I believe was damaged back in the straight line wind storm that came through south city earlier this year. These hollow logs will make some awesome looking mirrors!
This is a custom entry table I created with a gnarly red cedar driftwood trunk and some of that beautifully dark figured walnut driftwood for the top. There's also the high tech feature of an LED light strip underneath that changes color and can be controlled with voice commands. The black laquer painted wood base gives it a bit of a contemporary touch. I also created the matching red cedar driftwood lamp sitting on it.
