Lakewell Reid is the nurse for our Kansas City Host Home program. Prior to working with Missouri MENTOR, Lakewell worked at St. Luke’s Hospital for 8 years, and she is also currently working at Crittenton Children’s Center in their psych-residential area, where she has been for 6 years. Lakewell is a phenomenal nurse and an asset to the team. Lakewell’s favorite quote is from Mother Theresa: If you judge people, you don’t have time to love them. Jordan and Monica Peters have been Mentors with Missouri MENTOR for five years. Currently, they care for two individuals in their home, and Monica says they have become family. In fact, their children call them both uncle! The whole family loves going on vacation to Disney and Branson, as well as Iowa and Arkansas for the holidays, and football season is the family favoriteeveryone in the house favors a different team! Monica and Jordan previously worked in group homes a...nd they said they like the Host Home program because it gives individuals a a safe, loving, and stable home. We love being part of the Missouri MENTOR Host Home program," said Monica. "It is a different kind of support for individuals, giving them a better quality of life so they can grow to be more independent while being supported and loved. Thank, Jordan and Monica, for making such an important difference in the lives of individuals with disabilities!

Julie Nieder, a Direct Support Professional in the Kansas City area, was recently promoted to Program Supervisor! When Julie learned that an individual was entering a new home through our Independent Supported Living program, she came back from maternity leave to help him smoothly transition into his new home. She has gone above and beyond to help him get established, engaging with him whenever and wherever needed. In addition to her caring and supportiveness, Julie has provided additional oversight, double and triple checking medications, ensuring accurate information and documentation and more. Thank you, Julie, for being so diligent and supportive, and congratulations on your new position!

Lexi Hastings is a Direct Support Professional with our day services program in Independence. During the pandemic, Lexi has transitioned from working at the day program to working in our independent supported living program, and then back to the day program. Through these challenging times, Lexi has risen to the occasion, and she recently took on the role of leading the virtual day program services for the day program in Independence. Lexi has done a great job of engaging the individuals in exercise, science experiments, games, crafts, virtual outings and reading activities. She works hard to ensure that the individuals she serves are engaged and enjoying the program, even when they can't attend in person. Thank you, Lexi, for your dedication and caring!
