As you might know, a version of the COVID liability bill was passed in March, but we are still working on the full bill! This will have more complete provisions for providers who were exposed to lawsuits during COVID. This is a bill that so many other states have already passed, and a bill the Senate, House and Governor have wanted to move forward, yet it couldn't quite reach the finish line - But we're almost there. It's our honor to serve providers like you who provide excellent quality of life for the elderly. Day in, day out, you do the work of making them feel loved, valued, and happy. And it can be a LOT of work, right? So why did you get into long-term care? What keeps you motivated?

As you know, we work heavily with state legislators to produce policies that make a positive impact on long-term care facilities. One key to getting these policies to pass - Lawmakers need to see the problems that LTC providers face firsthand! Make sure you get to know your state legislators and representatives. Invite them to your facility and let them see the struggles you've been facing on the front lines for the past year. It makes a difference!

As you might know, long-term care providers are re-opening and allowing visitation! Excellent news for residents to get the social connection they desperately need. Here are the guidelines from Missouri DHSS: https://loom.ly/jTz2ZME

We are finding that about 80% of residents participate in getting the vaccine, but only 40% of staff participate. Is that true for you? What are you finding that works in getting more staff to participate?

PPE is available for licensed Long-Term Care facilities. The Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) has gowns, alcohol prep pads, surgical masks, and shoe covers that can be ordered by long term care facilities in bulk.
