Congratulations to the June Missouri Digestive Health Center Appreciation Award recipient Ariel Van Doorne. Her team shared these thoughts about Ariel: In our office she remains friendly, flexible, and reliable. She has excellent patience with patients over the phone and strives to learn all that she can every day to make sure she gets the job done right. As the only PSR in our office she provides excellent support to the nurses and our patients.... Being the only non-nursing staff we have in the scheduling office, Ariel pours her heart in to helping care for the patients referred for procedures. She has learned A LOT from the nurses in this office, and is incredibly patient and kind. For those who don't know her, I would ask that you take the time to get to her know her - your life will be all the better for it.

Congratulations to Jennifer Morris, LPN, the May 2018 recipient of the Missouri Digestive Health Center Appreciation Award. Here is what Jennifer's co-workers had to say about her: It is amazing to me how I can rely so fully on Jennifer, even on days when she is not [assigned to] taking care of my patients. We cannot even fully appreciate what she means to us, her clinic, and our patients. Thank you Jennifer! Jenn is always happy and willing to help. She is available for patients and the patients and staff always look forward to seeing and working with her. If someone will know the answer to a clinic question it is Jenn We are lucky to have her!

To round out colorectal cancer awareness month, the Missouri Digestive Health Center staff celebrated Gastrointestinal Nurses and Associates Week last week. Each year, they help remove nearly 12,500 polyps small clumps of cells that form on the lining of the colon. Most colon polyps are harmless, but some can develop into colon cancer. Colon polyps don't typically cause symptoms, which is why it's important to have regular screening tests, such as a colonoscopy, when you're over age 50.
