Summer Success online registration for both in-person and Virtual Learning is open in the Independence School District. Parents will have the option to choose i...n-person or ISD Virtual Learning. Summer Success will run July 1st through July 31st Monday through Friday for all grade levels. You can register at https://www.isdschools.org/summer-2020/. You need to register by Friday, May 15th to ensure a spot in Summer Success. We are enrolling for both in-person and virtual summer school. You can click here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YQQh15VFtkA to view a short video about this exciting Virtual Learning platform used by school districts K-12 and higher learning across the country. Canvas will include a daily live teaching component, attendance and grading expectations for credit. If you have already registered, you don’t need to take any action at this time. If you still need to register, you must do so by Friday, May 15 to ensure a spot for in-person and ISD Virtual Learning. We understand you may still be deciding if you want to send your student to in-person summer school. You need to enroll them this week and we understand if you change your mind later. We need all enrollments this week to prepare staffing to support students. For those who are registered by this Friday, you will receive an email next week with more information and the option to select either in-person or ISD Virtual School. If you elect in-person summer school, you will be able to change to virtual before July 1. However, if you select virtual, you may not be able to change to in-person. Elementary summer school locations will be determined based upon enrollment numbers and will be communicated out in early June. Summer Success for 6th grade will be at Bridger Middle School. 7th and 8th grade Summer Success will be held at Pioneer Ridge Middle School. 9th through 12th grade Summer Success will be held at Truman High School. Virtual middle and high school would include core courses only, plus health and personal finance. Incoming kindergarten students will need to first register for kindergarten for the 2020-2021 school year. You can register for kindergarten at https://registration.isdschools.org. Once new kindergarten students have been registered, you will receive a prompt at the end of the registration with the opportunity to also register for Summer Success. Due to the COVID closure, we were unable to hold an in person kindergarten registration. We will hold a Back to School night in August to welcome our new kindergarteners to school for tours and meet the teacher opportunities. As we make plans for Summer Success, you can expect additional communication in the weeks ahead regarding increased cleaning and other precautions as guided by health officials. We will have thermal temperature scanners at all school sites as well as other health and safety protocols. If we are unable to open for Summer Success due to any local or state guidance, we will transition to an all Virtual Summer School. We are planning for and hope to see students back in our schools on July 1st.
