Cold temps, the rut is on, and snow in some areas...what more could you want for opening day of Missouri's rifle season. Good luck to all..make some memories and most importantly be safe. Here are a few Missouri giants from the 2017 rifle season

Temps are dropping and the bucks are on the move. It is looking to be another good year for quality bucks in MO. Have some PATIENCE and let the young bucks walk. During the rut you never know when a big mature buck is going to make an appearance so don't tag out on the first buck that comes along unless it's a BIG ONE!!. The conditions for this weekends rifle opener look great so good luck to all and BE SAFE. Here are a few mature bucks that have come in the last few days to get you excited to get out and hunt.

I thought this would be a good post to follow my last one. This 5 1/2 year old 200" buck came in last night. This hunter had the "patience" to wait for an opportunity at a mature buck and like Tim he was after a particular deer. He didn't let an arrow fly until he was presented with that opportunity and his "patience" rewarded him in a big way. The quality of the bucks in Missouri continues to improve but you have to let these deer reach 4 1/2 years or older if you want an opportunity at a giant like this. Congrats to Adam...his patience paid off.

As fall begins and hunters take to the woods to hunt the elusive Whitetail Deer I wanted to share something that might help hunters with something we all struggle with at times.."patience"..I was at Wal-Mart yesterday flipping through the latest edition of North American Whitetail. Years ago I was a subscriber to this magazine and I can remember reading the articles and seeing these giant Whitetails thinking I would love to mount that deer. Twenty years later I can now read a...n article and say I mounted that deer. Thanks to Tim for not giving up his pursuit of a giant. The story of Tim's pursuit reminds us of what patience and persistence can reward us with....and "Walter" the deer that eluded hunters for years reminds us of how great of a trophy animal the Whitetail is. So good luck to all hunters this season and if Tim was to offer some advice I think he would say "patience...patience..patience" See more
